Hi Katie,

It's me Tricia, my surgery is on Monday, so we are close Post Ops. I'm struggling thru my last 2 days of the 3 weeks of Optifast. The first 2 weeks weren't as bad, but I've felt genuinely hungry most of this week. Using the sugar free syrups to add some variety to the drinks has helped the boredom, but the tummy is still growling.

All of my outside Pre-Op stuff is done but I need to do photos and measurements to start my journal. I didn't get a goal weight from my doctor.....did you get a goal weight or just look one up somewhere?
I had lost 14 lbs on the optifast at my pre-op appointment, so may make it to 15 lbs by surgery. I hope it is working well for you

I'm going in early Monday and am the second case, at approximately 11AM, but I won't have computer access that night at the hospital to wish you luck on Fat Tuesday. I will send you good thoughts.

It's almost time to start our journeys to a healthier lifestyle!!

Tricia

Default Day 12... 2 to go???

Wow... how did this happen? I only have Sun and Mon on the pre-op diet, then it's off to the hospital!

Today has been another challenge - I'm beginning to hate my life!

I got up early for G'hog Day... and hurried over to the celebration... Just after Jimmy made his prognostication, my cellphone rang... It was the Mr. telling me what a bad night he had --- that he was running a fever and he was being sent back to the hospital... OYE!!!!!

I hurried up my G'hog duties (photos, postcards) and ran home to pack up stuff for the hospital... I quick downed Shake No. 1.

As I was backing out of the garage, the cell rang again... Mr. saying "no fever, don't worry about it... I'm fine, not going anywhere." So I returned to the house to do a quick update of Jimmy's website (www.groundhogcentral.com)... and ran back to get a few more photos with Jimmy:

Me with Jimmy and his human, Jerry

Driving to the Care Center, the cell rang again... ARGH! "Yup, I'm going to the hospital..." So I hurried, it started snowing... hustled all my g'hog collection in for the family Ghog day party (long story)... and then we waited and waited for the final decision: Should he stay or go?

Just as my sibs all piled in... we're a GO again... so I downed Shake No. 2 at 11:30 and off we went... Vials of blood later, he was sent back to the center... saying they didn't find anything alarming... I had to stop to buy him earplugs and an eye mask so he can sleep... we got back at 4:30.

Meanwhile, he missed 1 of his "vital" antibiotic treatments, lunch, insulin, noon pills (including PAIN meds) and I missed the party... (some of my sibs and in-laws... Judi in the purple made 22 g'hog hats + some for the babies...)

I ate a protein bar and made Shake No. 3... sat around awhile and realized I was too tired and had too many things to do to sit there any longer... So, it's 6:30 --- I'm home with 5 shakes and another protein bar to go...

It ain't gonna happen! Who would have thought I could live and be fairly content with so little food... sooo hard to believe.

I need to get myself organized for food post-op... I know I need to get protein in, but not sure how I'll accomplish that.... but it'll work out - everything has so far!!!

katie

As for right now I am watching with the cat.
For snacks I have shrimp and cocktail sauce (yum!), chips and salsa, and am defrosting a crab and scallop stuffed sole thingy from Omaha steaks. OH, and I'll be drinking CRYSTAL LIGHT and/or PROPEL! I will have plenty of food for the afternoon, evening... night. I CANNOT WAIT for the game to start. I'm dying here!
I have my Brady shirt and my Pats cap already to go for the morning. It will be my uniform for the entire day!!

Katie, I am glad the Mr. is relatively ok, and not in the hospital any longer.

And YOU, my friend, are hours away from your new life!!! WOWEEEEE!!!!

Tomorrow my DH and I will be watching the game, with our two Lhasa Apsos, who really do enjoy football (yeah, right). Glen has his stuff (beer, chips, etc.) and I have mine (all the right things), and it will be just another day in our household. Neither of us are huge football fans, but we always watch that game.

I will spend some time at the pool tomorrow, aquajogging, probably befor ethe game.

Just two sleeps til surgery... WOW... I can't believe it...
