Very normal! If you weren't asking questions, I would be a lot more worried! I researched for 2 years before I started the process, because I wasn't sure. All that research just ended up making me a well-informed patient; a well-informed patient can be her own patient-advocate!
Good luck!

csautumn? I would be scared too, with 5 kids. (Heck, just having 5 kids would scare me! ) But without the surgery, what would your life expectancy be, and what would be that quality of life be like? Get it done so you can keep up with the 2 yr old, and know you'll be able to dance at your oldest's wedding.
(And I'm just a few years older. At our age, we should have things like wills, etc. in place anyhow. Sad but true!) Good luck to you too!

Thanks to all that answered. I too am in the same boat as the ones with little children. Oh, how I go back and forth!

Then I think to myself all of the things that I haven't done because of my weight. All the parties I won't go to, all of the excuses I have made not to be intimate with my DH, all of the excuses I make for my weight.

I know I am doing the right thing. I am expecting my emotions to get worse the closer that I get. Thanks everyone for the support!

This actually makes me feel better. Many people I know who moved forward with the surgery were so enthusiastic and they never looked back. I am the "ya but" of the group. It makes me feel better to see normalacy to that.

Christina... I've been back and forth on this too... now that the date is in sight and I'm doing so well on the pre-op diet, I'm feeling more and more sure of my decision. I know I can do this and things are gonna be fine!!!

Do you have a date yet?

(RAIN: LOVE the new avatar... what a beautiful photo!!!)

But I have 5 children 2-17 y.o. and it's scary.... I read a post last night when someone posted about preparing in case something happened by seeing a lawyer and getting his affairs in order. Now I wonder should I write out the bills, the passwords, school and daycare info. etc...my husband doesn't have a clue. It hadn't crossed my mind until I read the post. I'm fully aware of the risks, but of course knew I was undoubtedly coming home. I don't know, I'll probably start taking the "happy" pills I take during my pms spells.
Yes, you should do all these things. HECK...you should do these things anyway in case you get hit by a bus when you walk out your door in the morning!!!!!!!!!!! Anything can happen, anytime, and being prepared doesn't make those things happen any sooner. Being scared is NORMAL, being Prepared is NORMAL...having a husband without a clue...well, that's normal too! Now get your stuff in order and do it for the BUS!!!!!!!!

I don't remember going back and forth, I just remember worrying a lot and driving everyone nuts here on the board. Luckily, I had so many post-ops holding my hand with such open arms. It was an awesome feeling.

I am totally off of the fence!! I know that I will have WLS, and I am really excited about it. I still worry, but I think if I wasn't worrying, that might be a bigger problem. Anyway, thanks for the support. I am turning to this board more and more.

Scheduled 4/21 and I'm feeling all of the symptoms you all are talking about including cancelling. Thanks for all your honesty - I love this forum. I always feel so much better.

Default Hmmmm

What I think is important is to understand WHY you change your mind. The WHY makes all the difference in the world.. to me at least. My own experience, I went 5 seminars in 4 years. I didnt like what I heard, especially when they talked about hairloss. That idea frightened me, and I just tried dieting... again. Then it got to a point that I was in such much pain, I hurt terribly, the only thing going up was my weight, blood sugar and blood pressure! The only thing going down was me, my ankles used to give out. I would lose weight then gain it plus 5 or 10 more. I got to the point that if it meant wearing a wig I wouldnt care. My life was a living hell.

I laughed afterwards, cause you can barely notice the thinning. Its alarming but not what I had been invisioning for so many years. But I guess there is a right time, when it feels right. After I met Dr. Callery I trusted him completely, mind, body and spirit, and never regreted a thing.

So determine your WHY. Make sure you go with confidence, it is not the easy way by any means as thought by so many people. Best wishes to ya!
