Default Bad blood work

Hi, I also have the H Pylori bacteria in my blood stream. My doctor has given me a two course of antibiotics and another pill which coats the stomach lining - it's called a Prev pack. My doctor doesn't think it will delay anything, since the two weeks usually takes care of it. I did some research on the bacteria and what I read is that it is possible that it is caused by contaminated food or water, but they're not sure what causes it. I also read that up to 50% of the population has it. Apparently, it's a bacteria that attacks the stomach lining and causes stomach ulcers. So, I'd see your doctor on Monday but don't stress over the weekend. You should be fine with a good dose of antibiotics. Hopefully, unless you've had symptoms of an ulcer (nausea, heartbearn that goes away when you eat, etc.) they've probably caught it before it's done any damage to your stomach. Good luck with your surgery!!

Well, I hate to tell you...but the prev-pack was $378 without insurance. I don't know what it would cost you in your area, but it's not cheap. Do you have regular insurance that covers your regular medical needs? They should pay for it if you do because this is a separate health issue than the gastric bypass. Good luck!

I had H-pylori also. I was on 2 different antibiotics, pepto bismal, and zantac for 2 weeks. I had to wait 4 weeks after the antibiotics were done before they could do a breath test to see if the h-pylori was gone before I could have surgery. It delayed me by about 4 weeks. It was nerve wracking but in the end it is better to have taken care of it before surgery.
