Journal?
Hey all,
I'm curious, my doctor suggests I start a journal about my weight loss surgery. My feelings and fights leading up to it, and my progress after.
Do you think this is a good idea?
Here is the site I made (I'm not good at this stuff) so please be nice on your comments lol
Here is the site: http://www.freewebs.com/myweightbattle/
Thanks for your input
Keith

Keith,
What a cool site! I wish that I was that organized. I do have a ton of pictures that I take monthly to see how I am looking. I still see a fat girl in the mirror and that is hard to realize. I think your journal is a GREAT idea.

I think it's definetly a great idea to keep a journal. I already have one over at www.livejournal.com for normal things, but I was also considering starting a second journal just for the weight loss.
Good luck with it!

I didn't do a journal. It was suggested to me by several people, but here is why I chose not to. First of all, I have tons of pics of my former self. I have one pic at 2 1/2 months post-op and was going to take some each month but decided against it. I can go to WalMart and pick up a size 28 to be reminded of how big I was, so I didn't keep any old clothes. When I look in the mirror, naturally, I still view myself as larger than what others see me, but I just figure my brain hasn't caught up to my body. I just really didn't want written documentation of my weight loss. The way I look at it, I was not healthy, and I had an operation to fix my illness. If I would have had a different type of surgery, I wouldn't have been inclined to document that either. I remember having my gallbladder removed many years ago, and I couldn't give two flips about the recovery period. I dunno, maybe I'm just odd.

I have considered it, but just haven't started yet. I guess because it brings up some painful issues. I think it's a great idea and can be very theraputic. I read a great one on line somewhere (?) that went through everything and it really helped me make up my mind about wls. I think you are doing a wonderful service to yourself and potentially others. Wish I was as brave!

checked it out!
I think it's great! I like the music and I love how the date swirls around when you move to click on things! I think you have done an outstanding job! I'll make sure I check back periodically to see the changes! Your one talented guy! There is no way I could do anything that nice. You keep up the good work. I know it's for you, but you could easily help to change someones life for the better. God Bless!

It looks good and I would keep up with this. I've kept up with the pics and things but I haven't written to much down. I'm looking to start my own webpage soon. How did you start that? I would like to have some where I can keep a journal as well as pics of me. I think its the best thing you can do because when you get down on yourself you can look at the webpage and see what all you've actually done and how far you have really come.

Thanks everyone for your replys. I am not really that talented, anyone can make a site like that. Just go to www.freewebs.com and follow the instructions, it's free, and its easy.
If anyone needs assistance with their site, I would love to help, just ask.

I have one
It is on obesityhelp.com you can find the url under my member profile. I have to update it though. Anyway I am so glad I did this. I go back to it from time to time and find that when I am feeling down or discouraged, it reminds me of how I have transformed. It reminds me of all the good in my life and how I accomplished the somewhat impossible.
It also makes you sad that you were that heavy, but it keeps you honest and focused on your goals..
