Default Starting my 2 week pre-op diet

I start my 2 week pre-op liquid diet tomorrow ahhhh
And I had a celebratory "last supper" at Taco Bell tonight and finally feel that giving up the bad food really won't be that bad

I'm not looking forward to the protein shakes but I'm hoping I'll find one I like.. I am looking forward to losing some weight in the next couple of weeks though!

Anyone else having surgery around Dec. 13th?

Yay! Another December buddy! How is your diet going? Surgery is right around the corner! I'm so looking forward to my surgery date just to get it out of the way and move on to the fun stuff

Hi Katie,

My date is December 5th but I don't have to go on the liquid diet. I am off to the UK tonight to visit my daughter as tomorrow is the 1st anniversary of my husband's death. I am looking forward to a weekend of shopping and sightseeing.

Then off to the hospital on Tuesday morning as the surgeon likes you to be there the day before and the op is Wednesday morning. It seems like a dream that the op is so close but I am more than ready. I will be in hospital for a minimum of 10 days so I have been packing all kinds of trashy paperbooks and magazines (nothing that won't require concentration) and my German/English translation dictionary.

Good luck with your surgery and see you on the loser's bench!

Thanks guys. And goodluck Margaret! I'll be watching for your updates

So I had my first protein shake this morning.. I woke up around 8:30am and had it around 10am (I could only drink about half of it) and have never felt so sick in my life. I was.. actually still am, SO nauseas. Barely able to function nauseas. I had class and got home and couldn't think of any way to get any relief except to try and eat something and hope it would help or at least flush out that protein shake. I had some chicken noodle soup broth but it hasn't helped The only thing I can think to do now is just try and go to sleep.

The first day is the worst. It gets better. I did 3 protein meal replacements shakes a day and that was all I was allowed to have. For me, I had to blend the shakes in the blender, just mixing with a spoon did not work and it had to be ice cold. Good luck. I know it seems horrible now but it will all be worth it in the end.

Thanks! I feel much better now that I'm not nauseas. I had a popsicle a little while ago and will try to do another protein shake later this evening I think. I'll get the blender out too and maybe put some ice in with it to trick myself into thinking it's a smoothie I can learn to eat them but not if they're going to make me as sick as I was this morning! I'm going to get some other brands to try, maybe that brand just didn't agree with me.

I couldn't drink them pre-op unless they had ice and in the blender and really tried a lot before one worked for me. After surgery I don't like them with ice, but they still need to be in the blender. Good luck! Can you drink broth. I had a lot of that and popsicles.

I can have sugar free jello, popsicles and broth which is holding me over just fine, so far. I wouldn't be sad if I didn't eat any protein shakes! I think I have to though so tomorrow will be more trials. After this mornings issues I couldn't bring myself to try another one tonight. I just had some strained french onion soup broth and some grape juice. I'm allowed grape, apple and cranberry juice! Not too shabby
