Cash and Carry RNY anybody?
Hej Pals,
Have any of you Self-Pay RNYers "only" filled in a medical questionnaire, paid a 10% deposit and awaited surgery date within 4 weeks with no need for a pre-op diet, tests etc other than turn up the day before the op (abroad) for pre-surgery test?
I have used a medical agent company in England for surgery in Belgium with one of Europe's top bariatric surgeons. Travel, hotel, taxis, post-op nursing at the hotel and all surgery fees organised by the agent, 10%deposit paid, balance on day of surgery directly to the hospital....
I have done considerable research before having taken the plunge and thankfully found Thinner Times Forum to read and obtain answers - where would I be without your wonderful support!
I look forward to hearing about your self-pay experiences!

I hope that when you get there they put you through rigorous testing. I was so frusterated with all of the tests and hoops I had to jump through, but you know what? My doc knew me inside and out and was sooooo prepared to do the surgery on me. I had no post op complications save for the occasional dumping. If things are discovered pre-op (like sleep apnea, high BP, high cholesterol, diabetes) they can start to treat you prior to the surgery. JMHO, love. I trust you have researched this to death, and I know things work different in the states, so please excuse me if I am speaking out of my arse...but I care aboutcha

Cheers Whitney - you are always the first to turn up for support! Yes thanks, researched to death and I have full confidence. Was only wondering. Gwen has been "done" by the surgeon who'll take care of me. I have spoken on the 'phone - he sounds absolutely marvellous - I asked him awkward questions and he could calmly reply!

Hello Love,
Yes thanks, I am a Brugge Babe, a Dillemans girl. Indeed, Gwen has been marvellous and I love her Newbie Welcome Pack - she is such an inspiration, full of joy, strength and sends positive vibes to all areas of the Forum and all countries (SA and UK not to mention across the whole of the US!).
Cheers!

Been there, done that, got the Scar to show
Hi V&V
Dr D works in a very different way from how the US surgeons go about their pre and post opp procedures and I too was wondering before I went over.....
Perhaps you'll feel more at ease when you've read my Great Expectations (continued) thread?
It also answers all the questions you've posted in the Calling all Brugge Babes (Dr Dillemans' patients) thread
Let me know if you have any other questions
You must be getting really excited - I know I wished my life away in those last couple of days/weeks before the opp
Big Hugs - you'll be just fine - he's a little magician

Thanks Gwen! Yes I have read so many threads and posts and been in PMs with so many. A wonderful journey and I am really confident and relaxed and busy. No little niggling feelings... I have a very busy week before I leave. My tickets from St Pancras to Lille have arrived today! Yippee!
You are a very gifted and positive, warm woman and I could easily envisage you in marketing or advertising, at executive level with both feel firmly on the ground!
Tata for now!
