Default This is my first post here...

I too am awaiting approval...
I just completed my consultations with the program coordinator, nutritionist, and had my psych eval on Monday. I am waiting for my sugical consult and my insurance approval which will be submitted by the surgeons office...
All of th waiting is going to kill me. This is so hard. I am still undecided which surgery I will go with, the RNY or the Lap-Band. Any advise is welcome. Great thread. Waiting stinks...I need to learn patience

Exclamation Run around

I called Aetna today and got passed around like a hot potato... : ( Long story short, my paperwork arrived in the CORRECT dept today (11/27)... so they have 30 days to review it... I said (emotions in my voice): "It's not my fault your people directed the paperwork the wrong way, can't I be put on the top of the stack?"

Waiting for the "Pre-D" gal to call... (Pre Determination)... grrrrr......

Later: She called and I'm not her problem... passed me around some more... told to call back next week... sigh...

(Red cheeks in toon are INTENTIONAL!)

Default Hmmm...

Hmmm... Katie, sweetie, just exactly what gesture are your fingers making at the phone (and, by extension, Aetna) in your lovely new 'toon?

I was giving the run around and they did the paper work shuffle with me. Every time they would tell me to call back in a week and I did. I think they got sick of me calling. I always got the same people on the phone and I think they were a little annoyed Oh well this is my health we are talking about. I honestly was waiting for a denial. I just had it in my head that it would be denied and I would have more hoops to jump through. Now I wait for the surgeons office to call and schedule my tests. They said they will call me. I guess if left to me I would have said please transfer me so that I can schedule . It will happen for you soon enough Toony! I have been thinking about you through this entire process. Sending prayers for a quick response and Approval your way.

I'm also waiting for approval, but now I fear it's not going to happen. I received a letter from my Insurance saying I needed my 5 year weight history and when I called my Doctors office they said I had only being going their for 2 years. It felt like I had been going for more than that but now that I'm thinking back, I guess I hadn't. I have always been healthy, except for my weight, and so I never went to the doctor. I'm 35, with a BMI of 69 and I think I might get denied because I'm healthy. I have always been a negative person and I think this is just one more sign that nothing for me every works out. All I can do now is wait and it's just making me mental. It's already been 6 weeks of waiting and it really is hard, I feel like just giving up.

Well, Blay! You can't just give up! Can you find photos of you over the course of several years SHOWING you overweight? If you have a BMI of 69 --- I'm guessing it goes back plenty more than 5 yrs.... Think hard and don't roll over and play dead! Fight the fight... we'll all be here to help you! Denying someone with a BMI like yours is just ridiculous!!! Meanwhile, get in a program where you go in monthly to have your diet monitored... NOT WEIGHTWATCHERS or another group - it has to be a MEDICALLY supervised diet... Ok??? Promise???

I'm confused why it will take a while to lose 8 lbs. Are you 408? If you went on liquid diet for two days you would drop at least that in water weight to get your date.. get on the stick!! Janie

Meanwhile, I thought I had recieved a date from my self pay route but the Nutritionist will not clear me until I lose enough to drop below 400 lbs....that might take a while and my self pay (Rather loan financing) approval expires on Nov 26th, the date that was originally given to me as the S-Day!!!

The BEST comment I heard today when on the phone w/Aetna... and I heard it from 3 diff. customer reps... "That dept. does not have phones." Meaning the dept. that does the review and approves/denies....

yeah, right... and my mother had triplets yesterday!!!
