One week til the BIG DAY!
I haven't posted in a while but I'm 4 days into my 10 day liquid diet before the ~ta da~ big day.
I'm going frickin crazy without food; but, I think I can get through it. I'm doing Boosts, Carnation Instant Breakfast, Slim Fasts, Milk and water. I have to stay home because I can't stand seeing people go to restaurants, grocery stores and stuff. Ugh! I'm dropping some weight I think but I haven't decided to weigh myself.
I have these thoughts of wanting to not go through it, but I do want to do it. I keep thinking how much I'm going to miss my favorite foods. This is so hard.... help!!

Signature Updated... thank you katie my neighbor. I feel better after reading through a lot of pre-op and post-op threads.
My problem is that I have a side job that entails working in a bar. Looking at all those people eat and drink makes it hard! But, I'm proud to be sticking to it. My nurse called today to see how I'm doing, but I missed the call and I got it from voice mail. I should call her tomorrow. I need another voice of encouragement.

After the surgery, you won't want any of it! It's a struggle just to get in what you're supposed to, and even then, some days are bust. For instance, I'm usually pretty good about getting in around 800 calories and at least 60-70 grams of protein a day. Today, I'm at like 350 calories and about 28 grams of protein. Some days are better than others. My biggest meal today was the vitamins!
The hunger will be gone after the surgery...
Good Luck!
Mike

Hey Mike, thanks I needed that. People tell me the hunger pangs will be gone after surgery, I certainly hope so, but I have no reason to believe it won't be because everyone says the same thing.
I hope I can learn to count proteins and such, I can't even do it now! Yipes! I guess I'll be glad when it's done so I can move on. Next Friday, come on down!!!

The pre-op diet is not fun especially when you're around food. We had a meeting the other day and we brought our own lunches which was fine. The hard part was the browines, the cake, the pumpkin bread in the center of this table..on my side. I took a big ole deep breath & made it through fine but it was NOT easy. I can't imagine having to do that every day.
Didn't mean to take over your thread. Sorry but I totally understand what you're going through. That was the point of my story.

Not hungry
I will have to say I had similar fears before surgery. The pre-op liquid diet was hell on earth if I had to be around people eating. But like Mike said, haha food. You won't want it. Imagine walking around after eating a full Thanksgiving Meal and seeing someone eat.. you could care less.. it will be the same after surgery.
I did not see anywhere where you were drinking protien shakes? Are you doing that during your liquid phase? That's important. It also helped keep me from being as hungry. You still need to be as healthy as possible for the surgery.
You are going to do great. So don't worry. It really is a different life after this.
All the best,
