per op diet, bad mood?
Today is day 6 pre op clear liquids. 8 more days to go! Then surgery, my question is anyone feel like licking a potato chip? At work I have been very crabby, snapping at my fellow co workers. At home I am have a really hard time sleeping, I just can,t seem to get comfortable. I have lost 8 pounds, have only been taking in 600 calories a day. I just hope I don't totally snap before my surgrey.

I'm right there with you. My pre-op diet is not liquid but it is very limited. I'm a big ole crab. I nearly had a coniption (sp?) fit at work on Friday. Thank goodness my boss said just go home & relax instead of firing me. LOL Seriously I wasn't being vocal but she could see it in my face. I, too, feel like I'm going to snap at any moment. It's taking lots of self control to not let that happen.

I remember that pre-op diet well. Hated every day of it!! I didn't do real well with it.....I snapped.....I will confess!!! I did lose 14 pounds on it, so I guess I did something right....but I did have a couple of trips to El Pollo Loco during those 2 weeks!!! Oh, and there was my sandwich and chips incident....It wasn't pretty!!! I don't envy you having to do it, but it'll be over soon and you'll be on your way to thin-ness!! Just think of your shrinking liver...and also any weight you lose now is less you have to lose after surgery!!!

Ladies, be good to yourself, your body is withdrawing from sugar, and all kinds of stuff. Run a bubble bath.. do something that makes you feel good. Pedicure, whatever it is!! Janie

Two weeks of clear liquids pre op is crazy. The pre op liver shrinking diet is full liquids including protein drinks. You are going to deplete your protein stores at a time when nutrition is required for healing. It is to limit fats/triglyceride intake.
It is also impossible and just keep this in mind....I think that is harder than the post op restrictions. If you can make it through that, you can make it through anything.
ARe you sure it is clear liquids for two weeks??

Listen to Dyann, ladies!!! 2 weeks of CLEAR liquids is not healthy at all... I would definitely double check on that. I understand shrinking the liver and all, but my pre-op diet was 2 weeks LOW-NO CARB, not liquid.. as my doc said it was the carbs which made the liver grow. I only had 1 day of clear liquid beforehand...

It's only my second day of full liquids and I think I might go a little bonkers. I got all of my protien in and all. I'm more crabby than I am hungry. I'm at work and feel like I need to take a nap.
I hope you are on full liquid not clear liquid. I do one week of full liquid and the day before surgery I do clear liquid.

I'm on day 1 of 14 of my pre-op diet. I'm not doing clear liquids, though. I'm drinking 3 protein meal replacement shakes a day plus no calorie beverages. Then the day before I do the clear liquids. I'm only finishing up day 1 and it's horrible. The shakes fill me up when I drink them but then I feel hungry 2 hours later, even tough it's not time to eat yet.
