Unhappy starting to worry

Hi there. I am still not schedualed for the surgury but have received all the ok's from the different people that I needed. The last one being the therypst. That was a real wing dinger. Bringing up all the old memories and discussing them. Nightmares and bad dreams and depression came on real fast. I have worked through the dreams and nitemares and have done the other things the therypst said I had to do. 1 was to get my meds checked, 2 was to expand me circle of friends, 3 was to get the counceling for the childhood stuff, and the forth was to start excersising and change my eating habits to be closer in line with what i would be doing after the surgury. As it comes closer to the "setting the date" I am getting more worried about the whole thing. I will say that when i do worry I come in here and read when i am not doing anything at work. With all the things that are said in here, the thing i most worry about is, 1 the lack of men in this forum. is it because they dont get the surgury or is it they just dont come in here and share their fellings. The second thing is worry about is the "failing " subject. As much as I know this surgury is the right thing todo. i sure dont want to waste the money and time if I am going to fail at this. Need some encouragement for a furture "looser" thanks cj

As a future "LOSER" myself, I have this to say. There comes a point in every persons life where we have to decide weather we are going to be "proactive" or "reactive". My entire life I have been "reactive". Things happen, and then I react. This time around, I am going to be "proactive". And that's not just about weight. That's about life in general. I'm tired of watching life pass me by because I am wating for something to happen, so I can react to it. I'm ready to live my life and take control and be proactive! Aren't you?? And if I were to fail, which I won't... but if I were, it would not be because "life happened".... it will be because I made a concious effort NOT to succeed. This, like most things in life will require serious comitment and effort. But all things worth having, or worth doing are hard work. I believe, and it is proven here to me daily, that we all have it in us to succeed at this. I have no less faith in you!! God Bless!

Hey

Don't worry, your not the only male here! It's normal to be worried if it is the right desision, just think about how it will be to be able to see your feet again! To run, laugh, sit in a normal chair, bye clothes in a "normal" store again, to enjoy life again!
I had the procedure in Oct. 2002, it failed, but I'm so sure it's still the right thing for me, that I am going for it again.

Hang in there, your doing the right thing

I understand completely! I just had the procedure done 2/22/05. I kept thinking, "Is this right for me? What if I fail?" What if, What if, What if ! I am still very early in my journey and I don't know it all, but you have to look into you self and ask if this is right for you. You haev gone through all the steps so that should tell you something! I have already lost 17 pounds and I now realize that I have made the right decision. I know this may sound weird, but you have already started the battle, now go win the war. Good Luck! I hope the very best for you!

There are several men on here, and they are wonderful! Also, my husband had surgery 4 1/2 months ago and he's lost about 90 pounds so far. He doesn't get online because 1) he can't type and 2) I won't let him use my computer...knowing him he'd download a virus! hahaha
Anyway, stick around this forum. These ladies and gentlemen are wonderful!
My husband would love to talk to you on the phone if you'd like. We have unlimited long distance, so there's no cost for calling! He loves talking to people about this surgery.

Good luck!
