Default Approved but no surgery date yet.

This is my first post although I have been reading this forum for several weeks. I have gained tons of information that has helped me. I have been approved for surgery and the surgeon's office is supposed to call me this week to schedule. I would love to correspond with someone who is expecting surgery in the next month or so. I am 53 and finally going to get out of the diet gutter.

Talking Prep for Surgery

Hi JJGirl,

Congrats...you are on your way.

I have a surgery date of March 23rd.

To prepare for my surgery, I am supposed begin walking at least 20 min. a day. Eat high protein, low carbs. Also, I was told to cough and deep breathe several times per hour to prepare for post-anesthesia lung exercises.

I must admit that yesterday afternoon, I went to a childrens birthday party at ChuckECheese. I ate lots of pizza, cake & drank soda until I thought I would POP. I hope that from now until my surgery I will behave and do what the doctor requested .... but it tasted sooooo goooood. I feel like crap this morning. To much fat & salt. Oh well...that kind of self destructive behavor will soon be in my past & I can hardly wait.

My surgery is being done by lap if everything goes as planned.

Please fill me in about what you are supposed to do pre-op. The more info we have the better and let us know when you surgery is scheduled.

HUGS...

How long did you have to wait before you found out you was approved?

Thumbs up

Congrats, JJ!! That is the biggest hurdle. I will be having surgery on March 23, lap, hopefully, also. I'm just trying to get everything out of my house before that, so I would have any temptations. Luckily, my kids are grown, and I don't have to worry about feeding anyone except my animals. I'm also trying to walk more every day.

Also, Chica, it took from 02/16/05 when my dictation was faxed to my insurance, to 02/23/05, 1 week later, for my "APPROVAL" call!!!! I couln't believe it and I'm still just amazed. I can't waith to be on the other side, with the losers!!!!

Check back soon,

YEA I got my date today. April 18 - want it now!!!!

Thanks for the info about deep breathing. The center I am going to actually provides two weeks of high protein/low carb shakes, meals etc...... before surgery. I have weaned myself off caffine (almost) and started taking some vitamins. After surgery they will prescribe prescription prenatal vitamins forever.....

Thanks for the contact! JJ

I'm also new. I will be picking up my Patient History form from my doctor and faxing in all my paper work to the insurance company today. I am soooooo excited. I've already had a verbal approval from my insurance now we just need the formal approval. I can't believe some of you got this in only a week! I was told it would take 8 to 12 weeks for an approval.
I would also like to corrispond with those of you who are waiting and those of you who have already done this.
I have been heavy for so long, it's hard to imagine living a thin life and actually buying cute clothes (I'm tired of shopping in the women's area and having a very small selection).
I am going to miss my daily Mt. Dew, do I need to get off the caffine before the surgery? I figured the pain medications after surgery would hide the caffine headaches.
