What Exactly goes on during Lab?
Because after the seminar, I have a one on one consult with the surgeon, and my Lab is a week after. I know they do some tests, etc, but what kind of tests exactly? Anyone?

I don't know about Kentucky, but in San Diego they want these, what I can think of anyway.
Well Womans Check Up
Sleep Study
Pulmonary Function Test (PFT)
Psychiatric Consult
EKG
Echo
Mammogram
Gallbladder ultrasound
Urinalysis
Blood Work: CBC, WBC, THS, LIPID PANEL, THYROID, Hct, Hgb, BUN and CREAT. There is probably more but I can't think of them right now, it has been almost a year since my surgery.
Hope this helps,
Traci

Labs
Hi,
I'm new here and just happened to read your note. They order all kinds of lab tests:cbc, glucose, thyroid, liver function, cholesterol, hiv, hepatitis panels, and probable more and for me.....a nicotine level. But I smoked for over 30 years. I just want to say I am very impressed with this site. I've been reading everybody's notes for some time but just hadn't written yet.
I started the process of course years ago, but finally requested a referral to Dr. Callory last October. Maybe because it was right after my 49th birthday, and I started freaking out. Anyway, everything seems to have gone pretty fast, and yesterday.......I was APPROVED!!!! I am so excited, I can't believe it. My surgery date is March 23rd. I wanted to start writing and get some advice, or just get some of my thoughts out about this whole process. Well, I better get back to work, but it's nice to finally talk to you all.

Welcome Anne,
Good luck with everything, "freaking out" is quite normal, at least for me, getting up to the 50 is, well, is a different experience. I didn't think I would live to be 50, and I may not yet, but it won't be obesity that kills me. I didn't have to have a nicotine test, and I have been smoking for 45 years, yes 45 and I am 47. My daddy thought it was cute to smoke with me while watching felix the cat. Anyway, Dr. Callery will postpone your surgery if you are smoking, he did mine, and that was without a nicotine test.
Good Luck,
Hugs,
Traci
