Arrow IVC filter in place today 8/31

I am home resting after a long day at the hospital. I had an IVC filter placed today. After this I am ready for my upcoming LAP RNY!
This a pre opp procedure I had to have done before my bypass. I have a history of DVT (deep vein blood clot) and this filter was inserted into my groin (tons of fun! LOL ) It was put in place to protect me in the event I develop a blood clot after my surgery.
I am very tired and have to stay still for the next 2 days so I will enjoy hubby waiting on me. I am so glad it is over and only 11 days left of my liquid diet and surgery day! YAHOO!

Glad they're doing preventative work on you.... does that filter stay in forever? or do they eventually remove it?

Enjoy being waited on!!! and TAKE IT EASY!!!

That's a great preventative measure if you are prone to the clots...another step closer! I meant to tell you in another post, but forgot...your little boy has your smile! SO CUTE the two of you smiling!

It is removable around 6 weeks post surgery. However I can elect to leave it in.
