Yikes! Need your help please
I am just completely overwhelmed at the fact that I'm having surgery in 5 days. Even just typing that made my stomach do flip-flops. I am not only dealing with the fact that it's major surgery, but I'm leaving a part of my life behind. I guess I'm really dealing with the idea that I won't be able to eat like I used to. I'm sure you now what I'm talking about.
The fact that I only found out yesterday, I feel harried. So much to do. Please, you guys, I need some advice on what to bring to the hospital and what to have in the house to eat/drink after I get back. Also...protein supplements....what do you like? I know you've answered these questions like a million times......but please humor me...LOL. Thanks in advance...

Goal! I did it!
111 pounds gone since my RNY
125 total pounds gone forever!
Reached my new goal of 130...and I think I want to stop losing now. "Stop losing now".Wow, I never thought I'd ever say that!
Looks like Donna is right though. My body doesn't seem to be done...

For the hospital: Chapstick, a pillow for the ride home, for your tummy, and loose fitting clothes for the ride home.
For at home afterward: Don't buy a lot of anything, except sugar free popsicles! You'll want protein, lots of folks like the one that comes in vials with lots of protein for little fluid. Vitamin shoppe or GNC carries them. Stock up on Propel, crystal lite...buy some broth, v-8...you won't feel like much more too soon.
You're going to do great Debbie! You're lucky, you don't have all that time to get anxious...you just went straight into overdrive!

Lynda covered it. I'm about 2 weeks out and have been one of the fortunate ones - no problems whatsoever. Without a doubt it's the best thing I've ever done for myself. Don't worry about eating afterwards. I haven't been hungry yet and have to really try to remember to eat. ALL PROTEIN SUPPLEMENTS SUCK! The vials go down quickly with a chaser so I do those so I can just get it over with. Good luck, you'll do fine.

and measurements..take your measurements!
I took my own pillow to the hospital.. and was glad I did.. I hate hospital pillows lol.
SF Jello, SF popsicles, and broth.. for after..
Protein.. BLECH! I'm little help.. I hope I never see another premade shake again in my life.. I tried the syntrax nectars (thanks LisaBoston).. and have some Fuzzy Navel coming tomorrow.. the protein taste isnt as prominent with those.. doesnt matter which ones you do, you'll get sick of them.. the vials are ok. but so sicky sweet..
I CANT WAIT TO SEE YOU ON THE LOSERS BENCH.

I took an MP3 player with me to the hospital which I listened to when I had nobody to walk with--they had me up and walking every couple of hours and it also kept me going. I did three laps around the floor on my first walk, I was feeling pretty good considering.
I did take some books to read but didn't do any reading while in the hospital.
You might want to take a notebook to write down your personal thoughts, or use to exchange contact info with people you meet during your stay.

That's a great idea Gary, I met some wonderful people who had surgery the same day or after as me.
ALSO...ear plugs! Hospitals can be NOISY! I slept like cr*p at the hospital.
