Default Pre-Op class

I am not sure about the rest of you, but my surgeon requires a pre-op class with one of the nurses in his practice. I went today. Essentially, it is their opportunity to reinforce the pre-op expectations when you are getting closer to the surgery date. And though I appreciate their need to ensure that I (and all others) understand the potiental complications, it was really a buzz-kill when we went of the attorney-written conset for surgery that listed all of the complications.

My spirits are still high, and I am doing better than I was a week ago with all of the information I am taking in...

Hi Mike,
I know the reality of what could happen staring you in your face definitely can make you think twice even though you know the reasons you have taken this step. One way to look at this is to think of it as another step closer to your final goal of a longer and healthier life, one more box to check off of things to be done before your final surgery date. I agree with you about all of the information you take in prior to surgery can be overhelming, but in the end its better to be informed about the surgery, the good and the bad. By the way, I used to live in MD in Saint Mary's County, when I had to fly on business I would have to fly out of BWI, I think MD is beautiful. Hang tough Mike!
