Thumbs up Hi!

Hey! March 15th is my birthday! Congratulations on your first meeting. It's so worth it. You make sure that you write down any questions that you may have now that are not answered during your meeting. You want to make sure that things get answered to your satisfaction. Please remember that we too are here for you to show our support. So, if you have any questions that you might have forgotten to ask, this is the place. We have wonderful people here that are at different stages in the process. Some at goal for years, some almost at the century club, some just a few weeks out...you name it, we've got it.

So, don't be a stranger okay? Welcome to the forum and we look forward to hearing about your progress and your successes!!!!

Okay here is some questions.

1) Other then pop/carbinated drink what else should be avoided?
2) I understand there is part of your stomach the is nolonger used but left in, do you get any kinda hunger pain from that section?
3) What the average time to take off work?
4) Is there any Canadian support group like this one?
5) Whats the survival rate of the sugery I heard it was high?
6) What kind of medical conditions stop you from the surgery, I have had my share of them but all related to being over weight?

Thats some to start. I would also like to thanks you guys just reading your stories make me fell more confident about the whole thing. THANK YOU.

BFD,
First off
Carbonated beverages, not good after surgery, can cause pouch pain. Prior to surgery anything is fine, avoide fatty foods and red meat for the last few days before going in.

You never feel hunger pains from the unused portion of your stomach any longer.

Time off, I took the full 6 weeks at my employers insistance. Many take much less time but usually regret not staying out longer.

I don't know about a support group in Canada. You might check out ObesityHelp.com. You are always welcome here though!

Survival rate is very hihg. Our surgeons have performed several thousand procedures and have only lost 4 (I think) patients.

I don't know of any medical problem that would prevent surgery, maybe delay it awhile but that is it. I had high blood pressure, sleep apnea, numerous aches & pains and a few other problems.

Good luck on your quest, welcome aboard

Some more questions.

1) After surgery what a good amount of excercise
2) Is there a waiting period before starting excercise?
3) Is there a waiting period before sex?
4) Is what can be expected right now I am 500lb, 6 feet tall?
5) How long is the average hospital stay?
6) I hear theres a lot of hernias after such a surgery?
7) Out of the following list can I expect to loose some of these conditions?
Sleep Apnea
Diabetes
Infertility
High Colesteral
General Knee Pain
Fear of DVT again
Fear of Pulmonary Embolisms again

Thank again for all your help, these are some of the question I will be asking at my first meeting just wanted some answers sooner, I still will be asking him.
