2 week liquid diet question......
I'm almost 1 week into it and I'm feeling weak and sore. Is this normal?
At this point I'm afraid that if my body isn't handling the amt it's getting now well how will I do after surgery. I'm so tired too.
I am taking iron and a multi vitamin too.

2 week Liquid Diet
I am right there with you...
I am on day 5 of my 2 week liquid diet...omg, the first 3 days were easy, but it is getting harder and harder, I think. I have been doing this everyday and sticking to it. I lost 5 pounds in the first 3 days and and have been there for the last 2. It is kind of depressing to me, because I feel like I should be losing some everyday. Am I wrong? I have a Carnations SF Instant Breakfast shake every morning and and cup of broth or Campbell's cream soup to go for lunch. I am getting less than 400 calories before I have my dinner. I look so forward to dinner every night...I had a baked Chicken Breast and salad last night. I do notice that in the mornings I have to make myself do the shake, but the afternoon I get so weak and hungry. Tonight will be a hamburger patty (without the bun) and sald. I absolutely love the Spring Mix salad kit.

Kim,
I am on my second day of the liquid fast, except it isn't a liquid fast that is modified. I don't get to eat a healthy meal with salad, it's all liquid. The only thing I do have that has some texture to it is grits, which I happen to love anyway, I put a little bit of margerine in it and that's about all. The list my doctor gave me said I could have SF apple sauce which I think I will have tonight with some splenda because I'm not too keen on plain applesauce. Anyway, I said all of that to say this...a religious saying that I try to practice is that when you feel like you are bad off look at someone who is in worse condition then yourself and immediately you begin to feel appreciation for what you have When you get a little down look at my liquid diet which is every meal and know there is someone who is doing something a little bit different then you and know that I would love to have one healthy meal a day. Oh yeah, I found out pretty quick that my hunger is a head thing a lot of the time. Sometimes I want something to chew and my stomach is fine. Believe it or not SF gum has helped me through those times when I experience head hunger, I think it is the chewing action for me. Hang tough, you will make it through! All the best

Hi Sunkissed,
Oh wow, I do feel bad for you. I am sorry. I have found alot of things to "keep me busy" from wanting to eat. I have to say that I am having great experience's wiht some of the healthy stuff...for dinner tonight I made spaghetti but used the Barillo Plus Angel Hair pasta (it has 9 grams of protein)...it tastes awesome! I am working 12 hours for the next 3 days, so that helps with the wanting to eat. I have my pre-op on Thursday and am extremely anxious about it (in a good way).

Kim,
I am so excited for you about your pre-op. I just noticed your surgery date is Monday...woo hoo! Mine is on Wednesday, we will definitely have to keep posting our experiences while we go through this journey. I'm glad you found some pasta that you like, and I believe the 12 hour workshift will be a big help to you. The liquid diet will be over before you know it, keep up your enthusiasm, it's contagious!

Keep Your Eyes On The Prize
I know, it's a tired, worn out cliche, but I think it's appropriate anyway.
Stay focused on why your doing this, and it will be a little easier. I feel for you all. Look at it this way - when you go into that operating room, the weight you've lost in the past two weeks will make you that much more ahead of the game.
Don't compare how your feeling now (feeling of stomach emptyness, weakness and stuff) to when you have the surgery - trust me, they are two totally different things! After surgery, you won't want anything to eat! You'll be on a totally liquid diet and you'll be happy for that. Food is just not going to sound appealing. Get those sf popcicles ready, they will become your best friend when you get home.
Take it one day at a time.
Everyone here know's you can do it, and it's really only a short time in the grand scheme of things! Hang in there, your all doing great!

Pam,
Yeah, my surgery date is knocking on my door! I had my confirmation call today for my Pre-op on Thursday. I will be coming home as you are going in. I am sure that we will have alot to share. I am exhausted tonight, I think that the hours are catching up to me. I am used to leaving work between 2:30-3:00. Thanks for the encouragment...it really goes along way! We will definately have to keep up with one another.

Oh yeah, I am already addicted to the SF Popsicles and SF pudding. I forgot to take some to work with me today and actually missed them. I am taking to the Atkins shakes. I know that there is a long road ahead of me, and I am READY.

liquid diet
HI
I am James, my surgery is tomorrow in the Philippines, I am on day six of the liquid only diet prior to lap banding.
Breakfast, herbal life milk shake, lunches taken at the japanese resturant, clear soups of various flavours, but the meal never rises above a pound in value, tea is more soup or another shake, only two cups of tea or coffee a day and juices, plenty of water,
Side effects not peeing much due to the heat, but after the first few days its got okay unless the rest are eating then I am running with mouth juices,
Two weeks more then some solids I cant wait, but I have shed 14 pounds pre op so lets hope that stays afterwards
Good luck to you all, I want to be a loser like you guys,
James

Hi James,
I wish you the best of luck! I have my pre-op tomorrow morning and will be following you into surgery come Monday morning. Just think, the old life you led is now going to be far behind you.
