Crossing my fingers...and waiting
Yesterday was my 6 month visit for my doctor supervised diet. I hand carried my office notes to the surgeon, and was offered to see him right then and there, as he had had a cancellation. I had to decline, because I'm not sure if Aetna is going to pull the pre-existing condition clause on me.
I asked the pre-certification person(Kristen) what date I could be looking at for surgery if I'm approved, and she told me the 6th of August! Mind spinning. She then scheduled my pre-op for the 30th of this month and started the insurance paperwork as I was sitting in her office. It went off yesterday! I should know something by this coming Friday.
Kristen told me my paperwork looks totally in order and doesn't expect to have any issues with approval...other than the possibility that the pre-existing clause could hold me off until January. I'm not sure how I'm going to make it through this week....I keep reminding myself of the struggles I've seen some of the rest of you here go through as you fight for approval. I'm trying to keep busy and not think about it, but somehow, I keep winding up here at TT...reading and hoping like crazy.
I have this secret little fear that the show "Big Medicine" is going to encourage so many people to try for WLS that the insurance companies clamp down! My imagination is running wild at all the ways this might not work out for me...

I know this sounds silly, but I have Bon Jovi tickets for the 7th of November. It would be so righteous to be down 40 pounds by then. Here's to hoping for August!

The most important thing, Debbie, is that you have begun your journey. Where it will take you may be a bit of a winding road, but you will get there. Keep thinking this way, and make it happen.
As I type this I think of Baron Patrick who FOUGHT and received approval and ultimately had his surgery. Clearly, I hope you don't have to go through what he did (and you probably won't!), but the point is that he was FOCUSED. So stay focused, stay positive, keep anything toxic out of your life (not always easy).
We wanna hear when you do!!! The very best to you!
