Default Upset with surgeon's office

Need to vent a little: (this is sorta long, sorry)

When I first went to this surgeon, I was told about all the various costs, co-pays, etc. which included the initial visit which was $225, which they asked for practically before they said hello. The office manager explained that that $225 MIGHT be refunded to me, minus my co-pay in the event that the surgery was approved by my insurance. So after the surgery I had to go back to BCBS to request that they approve that initial visit - and they did.

So I called Stephanie, the office manager, when I received email motification from BCBS that the visit was approved. She admitted that it was approved, but said that it hadn't been paid out yet - I would have to wait until the end of the month (June) and CALL BACK.

So I called back after the first of the month - the automated answering maching tells everyone that "due to the high volume of calls" to allow 48 hours for her to return my call.

I have called three times since then and no one has retuned my call! I have begged an pleaded - I had a wreck on Friday - no one was hurt, thank goodness, but I told her that I NEED the money for my deductible and begged them to CALL ME BACK! Why won't they at the very least call me back?

I am so frustrated with them. It's no wonder that people think that doctors are money-grubbing so-an-sos, because they are!

First things first...I LOVE your new avvie...good work!

ok, second...is it too far to show up at the Drs office?
This is unacceptable behavior, what the heck is going on with these
offices? It's not like we (former) fatties have not been exploited six ways
to sunday...grrr...now some of the people who are supposedly helping our
kind are taking advantage?

I agree with Lynda. I would go to the office and plant myself in front of that window until I received some help. Goodluck and I hope you get your money soon.

Some one in your face is much more compelling than someone on your answering machine. Show up and squeek...be the wheel that gets greased. Good luck...

It's an hour's drive to the doctor's office - and at today's gas prices, I'd rather not spend another $10-15 to get this resolved not to mention that it would be a half day off work. But, if I have to, I will. I agree that that would be the best way to go, if not for the time and expense. Thanks for the advise - I really needed to vent. If another week goes by without anyone responding to my messages, I will seriously consider the trip.

Carol

Exclamation Resolved ????

I received a call from Stephanie, the office manager on Monday. she said that she would send the information on to someone else who would cut me a check and then Dr. Facundas would sign it and they would mail it to me. (Hurray!). But get this: I asked when I could expect to get the check, and was told that Dr. F was TOO BUSY to sign checks except ONCE A MONTH and it would be after the first of AUGUST before I would get the check!!

This is ABSOLUTE RIDUCULOUS!

But, what could I say - I guess I'll just have to wait and see ?!?!?!?!?!

A simple call to your insurance company might produce results...it worked for me
