Default Anyone with ADHD?

Does anyone have any experience with RNY and ADHD? I'm "off the chart" according to my wife the Teacher and take Concerta every morning and Focalin in the afternoon and evening. I dread getting settled with it again after surgery if I have to. Any responses appreciated.

I don't have it myself, but I do live with a partner that has a severe case and will not take his medication! It's a VERY difficult thing to live with someone that has ADHD. Sometimes down right impossible. What is amazing to me is he does not even realize how bad he is at times. There are so many projects around my house that lay unfinished......it tears my nerves apart to have to constantly finish up the loose ends....right down to putting up the water hose and car washing things that are left sitting in the middle of the driveway!! Grrrrrr! He just drives around them when he needs to go somewhere!

I am ADHD.. I am off all medication due to the fact it makes me nauseated. I have to just manage. I'm not doing too badly.. or at least I don't have a bunch of unfinished projects. Janie

I have ADHD and I am on medication but I haven't had my surgery yet. I would love to hear your experiences with having RNY and ADHD as I will be going thru the same thing.

Default Do you have sleep apnea?

My DH had adult onset ADD and found out after a sleep study that he hadn't had REM sleep in a couple years. That is why the meds helped him - he was in constant sleep deprivation, adrenaline firing all crazy. Anyway, once on CPAP, he got off all meds. Weird huh? Most likely irrelevant except that his sleep apnea is weight related of course.

Just an idea...

Meds are generally absorbed differently - no time released stuff anymore.

Ask your doctor!
