I sure wish there was something, anything, I could do to help make the wait go faster. Maybe there are two hell weeks - the week before and the week after!
Your mind will keep wandering all over the place, yes, the clocks will tick tick tick every minute and it will seem sooo s-l-o-w. You just want this done and over. No magic answers, sorry
Like many have suggested, clean closets and drawers-give lots away or throw away. Keep just a few comfortable outfits for the first weeks, a couple of 'good' outfits for going out in public, like doctor visits, etc. Make your home 'post-op friendly'. Put things within easy reach. Minimize having to stretch and reach for anything you might need in the beginning. Discuss with your support person what you think you will need them to do for you in the early stages of recovery. Maybe even make a list or whatever. Like helping with any dressing changes, how to make up your protein drinks etc. Maybe shop for a couple new outfits for the next size down? I bought sweats in the next smaller size and they made me feel good. And I was in them in a month. Maybe start a journal? It will be so very interesting to go back and read your thoughts. You can also put pictures in the journal and it could end up being like your bio of your whole experience. Who knows, Hollywood could make a movie based on it someday! And, of course, keep posting. We understand and will help you anyway we can!
