Carl:
Not being able to sleep last night might actually work in your favor tonight...you'll be extra tired. But don't forget to accept the sleeping pill they offer you. It will definitely help you get some much-needed rest before surgery. I did and it worked.
At the point you are right now, just let everything happen. When I arrived at the hospital, I knew that my decision was right and I knew that I wanted to be there. I just put my mind on auto pilot and let the staff lead me through it. "Sit where?" "Walk where?" "Put on what?" "Do what?"

ha ha
Before I knew it, it was over.
I fell asleep before I was taken into the operating room...which was a blessing for me. The last thing I remember before surgery was meeting the anesthesiologist in pre-op and having him place my IV. I guess as soon as the anesthesiologist started the drugs, I went out. I didn't even wake up in recovery! The next thing I remember was hearing my wonderful hubby and daughter talk about me in ICU--I couldn't even open my eyes! (I must have been REALLY receptive to the drugs!)

I finally became cognizant in the ICU when I had to get up and walk--I think it might have been the next morning!
You're gonna be just fine, Carl. Like the saying goes..."Let go and let God."
Blessings to you. See ya on the other side, friend!
