I bet you are nervous Carl, it's a very exciting time for you. Your good, just stay positive and it will all be over sooner than your ready. I asked for a sleeping pill when I finally got to the room. It helped a lot. I think they gave me ambien? Keep us posted when you get home.

I am starting to finally realize that my day is near too. I have to say I'm more anxious then nervous, I think. Try and do whatever it is that normally makes you relax. Think back on your journey that got you to this day and realize what an accomplishment you have made. Enjoy it! Not everyone can or will achieve what we have, unfortunately. This time tomorrow your surgery will be over and you will be on a new journey. A new life will be waiting for you. It will be within your reach now. Good luck!

Smile Just Let it Happen

Carl:

Not being able to sleep last night might actually work in your favor tonight...you'll be extra tired. But don't forget to accept the sleeping pill they offer you. It will definitely help you get some much-needed rest before surgery. I did and it worked.

At the point you are right now, just let everything happen. When I arrived at the hospital, I knew that my decision was right and I knew that I wanted to be there. I just put my mind on auto pilot and let the staff lead me through it. "Sit where?" "Walk where?" "Put on what?" "Do what?" ha ha

Before I knew it, it was over.

I fell asleep before I was taken into the operating room...which was a blessing for me. The last thing I remember before surgery was meeting the anesthesiologist in pre-op and having him place my IV. I guess as soon as the anesthesiologist started the drugs, I went out. I didn't even wake up in recovery! The next thing I remember was hearing my wonderful hubby and daughter talk about me in ICU--I couldn't even open my eyes! (I must have been REALLY receptive to the drugs!) I finally became cognizant in the ICU when I had to get up and walk--I think it might have been the next morning!

You're gonna be just fine, Carl. Like the saying goes..."Let go and let God."

Blessings to you. See ya on the other side, friend!

Default Thinking of you

Carl~ I'm saying a prayer for you tonight to allow you to remain calm and just let things happen. Before you know it, you'll be on the "loser" side with us. It really is one of the best things that I did for myself! Remember to accept the sleeping pill. I didn't know about that before and wished I had accepted it. God bless you and please post when you get home!
