Default Recovery Info for Lap?

Hi everyone -

I was wondering if all of you beautiful people can offer some insight into how you felt after your lap surgery? My husband went open and I have a good idea on the specifics there, but I am going lap, so I'm in the darkl

How long til the pain diminished? How long were you in the hospital? How long til you felt like yourself? How long til you went back to work? I know it varies for everyone, but would love to hear some data. Thanks!

Emmy

Hi Emmy....

I had my lap surgery on a Tuesday morning and went home late Thursday morning. I had small incisions, five for the GBS and two for the umbilical hernia Dr. Callery repaired. I found the nurses at Pomerado wonderful, the nurses aides not so great. I only took Lortab for maybe a week afterwards. As far as work went, I probably could have gone back in two weeks, but since my job at the time required heavy lifting, I stayed out for five weeks. Thankfully, I haven't had any complications! I've never thrown up, never dumped, been gassy, and haven't had any pooping problems...lol. I try to eat 4 to 5 very small meals a day. I know this goes against Kelly's instructions, but find it's what most nutritionists suggest and keeps me from getting too hungry and overeating. It also keeps my blood sugar at a more consistent level. Good luck...I'm sure you'll do wonderful!!

Default Emmy,

The pain for me was hard for about 6 days. I had my surgery on Monday 1st case, and was checked out on Wednesday by 1:00 p.m. I felt pretty good after 2 1/2 weeks and went back to work after 3 weeks. This was a mistake. I wish I would have taken one or two more weeks off. It's just too tiring to return so quickly, even though I have a pretty much sit down job. That's my story. I hope it helped.
