Sleep Apnea was one of the main things that qualified me for surgery too!

Hopefully your not like me, where the equipment is just like an exercise bike, it just sits there gathering dust. I try and try to go to sleep with it on, but I wake up every morning with it off - Here's hoping that the surgery cures this problem

Amanda,
Just curious, since I haven't been given much head's up as to what all of these tests will entail, what's the deal w/ the upper GI and why was it horrid?

Default sleep study w/ a cold

Wonderful! My sleep study is tonight and I have a cold...and I can't get ahold of the office that will be doing the test to see if this will have any impact.
Anybody have any thoughts?

The upper GI is where they test your gastrointestinal system ...there is one version with a scope and one without...I didn't need a scope...basically I had to not eat or drink anything after midnight, then i went in and had to swallow these nasty sour tasting crystals that emit gas into your stomach to "blow it up" so they can see better...then you drink a huge glass of barium liquid (tastes like nasty chalk) then they lay you on a table and make you roll around while they watch it on a video screen...to me it was horrid because the stuff they make you swallow tastes soooo bad...and I am not good at keeping down bad tasting things. Hope this helps

Grrrr...the sleep center called yesterday to remind me of last night's appt and I mentioned that I was all stuffy. He put me on hold and came back to say that it could lead to a false positive or inconclusive results and I would have to come back so the study should be rescheduled.
So, since I DON'T want the joy of doing it twice, I rescheduled to 4/23.
I'm going to be a pre-op testing fool for the entire week of 4/23...I've scheduled all of my testing, including the psych evaluation, for that week. Just can't wait to file and get my approval!!!!!
