Thumbs up IT's finally here...countdown to Monday

I finally finished all my appointments yesterday and got the definite go-ahead for surgery on Monday. I will have a filter put it at 9:00 am Monday, and then my surgery will be a few hours later.

I haven't posted much, but I have read so many posts and have learned so much from all of you. I just wanted to thank you guys for sharing your experiences.

Wow Monday. So have you been getting any rest? Congrats on your re-birthdate.

The filter is a vena cava filter that they will put in to catch any possible blood clots before they can reach the heart or lungs. My surgeon usually does it only if a patient has a BMI over 50, but in my case it is being done because I have a genetic thrombophilia disorder that makes my blood more likely to clot. The way they described the procedure (they will go in through the jugular vein in my neck! EWW!!!)sounds horrible, but they assured me I would not be in pain.

I am counting down as well... I don't think I really believed it was going to happen until I did all the pre-op stuff at the hospital and doctor's office yesterday.

Have you encountered much negative comments from family or friends? I have lately... but most of it is because they are misinformed.

Thanks for the good wishes!
