I've been approved, got a date!!!
It's been a really long time since I've posted anything because I was in the seemingly forever "waiting game" of trying to get approved.
Well, after 8 months, 2 denials, a 6 month diet/exercise program, I found out Friday that I've been approved by BC/BS for surgery!!
For 8 months I've logged on and read your posts, and have thoroughly enjoyed it. I feel like I'm about as prepared as I can be for this surgery, the good, the bad and the ugly! I also go to a support group meeting in Houston. This has been very helpful also!
I will start posting alot more regularly now that this is really happening!! My first question is this:
I'm getting my "to do" lists started, and thinking of all the things I want to do before the surgery. Clean house, organize, plant flowers/mulch beds, etc. A friend is flying in from Atlanta to spend 8 days with me (a few days before surgery, and a few days after), for which I'm very grateful!! For the "things to buy" list, what are some essentials? Here's what's on the list so far: pill crusher, thermometer, chapstick.....I would also like to know what grocery items are a must for the first few days. I remember some of you saying don't buy a ton of anything because you don't know what's going to suit you for awhile. Your help is much appreciated!!
My surgery date is April 12th.

It simple go easy on the soup, you will not feel like eating when you get out of the hospital. Most of all your old tastes will be gone. Food will not be important for a longtime.
I found sugar free popcicles the best thing.
Congratulations.. it's well worth the weight.........

Big Congrats on your re-birthdate. It is fight to the finish sometimes but worht it all. I would also recommend adding some Gas-X on that list. It will be your best friend your first couple of weeks post-op.
