Thumbs up Post Op Ideal Meal Process newbees and oldbees

This of course is just one guys oopinion, everyone does things differently. As a general rule though, this is pretty ideal to make it work, to use your tool!

Also, if you find that you are starting to put on a few worrisome weight, this is a great way to get back on track!

Remember, we have a tool. It will never fail us, we only fail ourselves. Together here we can all be 100% success WLS story!

  • Time meals 5 hours apart, or you will go hungry in between.
  • Finely cut meat and raw or slightly cooked veggies with each meal.

  • The patient must eat the entire meal in 5-15 (sometimes 20 depending on your surgeon). A 30-45 minute meal will cause failure.
  • No liquids for 1 to 2 hours after each meal. (Thats really hard to do, must staplers I know and our surgeon says 1/2 hour) I suppose the longer you can wait, the better.
[list]3 hours after last meal, begin drinking lots of water/fluids. (aka water logging to subdue hunger and late night eating.)
[list] 15 minutes before the next meal drink as much as possible, as fast as possible. This is called "water loading." If you havent been drinking over the last few hours, this water loading wont work. (I dont know why)
  • You can water load at anytime 2-3 hours beofre your next meal if you get hungry, which will cause the feeling of fullness.
