I don’t’ know if this has been mentioned by any of the other women but I wish I’d known how getting hit on for the first time in my adult life would make me more insecure about my new (emerging) body.. not less.

Smile I am utterly convinced

Dear Lisa,

Thank you sooo much for your post. I have applied for RNY with Dr. Dillemans due in 3 1/2 weeks. What you have listed has convinced me to "go for it" without any reservations about the procedure. Your listing has removed any doubts and answered many questions!
Congratulations on your own loss! Impressive!

I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!
I agree with Gwen - an essential read for any newbie. Luckily I came across it, marked it 5* and even my husband has been caught sneak reading it! Excellent and grateful thanks. It is also an excellent printout for relatives who want to read and understand at their own pace. My kids are 19, 21 and 23, my reticent husband 60 and they have ALL found several items they can relate to!

Hej CChick! I am really sad to read your text. Perhaps the hitter is trying to convince him/herself of some misplaced superiority. Do you feel vulnerable because of your stitches etc? Just remember how strong you are to even have had this operation in the first place! Just think of Construction in your name! A new creation is emerging and when a woman is strong, move out of the way! Keep faith in yourself. As you have made it this far, keep your head high and walk tall. Chuck the hitter out if counselling and negotiation do not work. Best of luck and I'll be thinking of you.

Default Got caught by an Americanism

Vim, being "hit on" is an Americanism for having sexual advances made toward you... And yeah, it can get a little scary. It's happened to me a couple of times post-op, and I'm still not sure how to deal with it.

LISA, pleae make sure that ADMIN sends your post as part of a welcome package! This is obviously immensely helpful - as you can see I have already replied and find myself recommending it to others... Many thanks again for your efforts on our behalf.

I can relate to that!

Someone recently described my puffy days to perfection. I was what she called a "DUFF"! aka a designated, ugly, fat friend. The sort of person that all the good looking girls wanted around cause it made them look even better.

I never got hit on - not unless you include the drunk who couldn't see too well.

As a consequence, accepting compliments was (and to a degree still is) very difficult - a lot of us with long terms weight issues just aren't used to it.

WOW Lisa you are amazing!!!! I find everything you have to say so true!!! and helpful. Here is something I get sooooo hung up on? I notice everyone has their lowest and their goal? the goal is generally higher?? My lowest was like 144 and now I hover around 161-164 it drives me crazy I feel like I failed. The bounce back weight has really put me in a bad place? Mags

THANK YOU!!! I had figured out that maybe I wasn't going to feel all that great even beyond the first week, but I loved to read the progression. I'm also going to share this with Mark so he can get an idea of what to expect.

Thanks!
