I wish I would have known just after losing my first 50 pounds my ankles would stop giving out on me!

I wish I would have known how many friends I would have lost.

I wish I would have known the hardest thing to deal with was how much my face and facial features changed!

Thank you Lisa - this both brought a smile and a tear to my face - I am soooo scared and excited at the same time - I know I will lose weight, but I can't imagine myself thin. I know my life will change and I can't wait until it does, but I'm afraid of the personal outcomes. I hate being the center of attention, but in so many ways hate being seen as the fat girl, invisable. I appreciate your candor and will re-read this with every week of my new life and realize there are sooooo many of you out there who have been through this and came out of it happier and healthier and that there are so many who are going through this at the same time I am. This forum is the best tool for us newbies and can't wait to share my experiences with all the future newbies and share commonalities with all who went before me. Thank you again

I'm still pre-op... but..I wish I had known that I would find REAL friends on this board... that I am proud of, and feel their ups and downs... and I am grateful for every post on here. EVERY post. I soak this stuff up.. and I am sure it will be a huge help for me.. (and all the other pre-oppers that read them).

Hi,

Sorry to hear this.

Can you expound on how you lost friends during this process? I think I've already lost one ... and I'm still in the starter stage.

I think this is one of the best posts I have ever read about WLS. It is not the clinical "You will experience this" stuff. It is a real, emotional compellation of your experience with WLS. Well done!

Andromeda,

Not just mine, everyone who contributed to that particular thread. I just removed the names and added their time post-op to organize it to tell a kind of story. My contribution is in there as well, but this is a whole bunch of Thinner Times people talking to you. I'm glad you liked it.

Bumping this for the newbies... someone reminded me of this post today, thought I'd get it up front again.

Default Thank you for bumping this!

Lisa, thank you for bumping this - I don't think I saw it the first time you posted it last spring. What an amazing and important thread - you really did a lot of work putting the comments together, and the now-anonymous comments are extraordinary. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
