I see I have a trip to take and only hope I can do it. I'm concerned that i may lose to much weight . I don' t want to be too skinny. But, I'm 62 65 lbs over weight and unhealthy. And I can't lose the weight because of my thyroid and night eating habits. I love crackers. cheez it. I love to read at night and eat . It is my time. I have stress and panic attack. So, peace is my goal in life.
I love my family and grandchildren and they need me. I once was small, pretty and looked great in clothes 30 years ago. Don't need to get a man , have one. Don't need to look sexy , those days are gone. But, need to be healthy and fit.
Hope I'm making the right decision.
You really helped me understand what is ahead of me and I do think I can do this. AT least , I have to try, I have tried everything else and it just doesn't last. I can do the diets, they don't work or don't last.
No more pills, diet dinners and no more knowing if i'm eating the right things and how much.
Thank again for the wonderful history.
Good morning, Pam! Welcome to T-T and the beginning of your journey!

And this is, indeed, a journey, never a destination.

Just something for you to think about.....this isn't a magic bullet, it's not a quick fix, and nothing happens automatically (losing weight). This is all about YOUR lifestyle change when it comes to food, and it is a wonderful tool, a true blessing, to assist you. YOU, however, have to invest in this process.

I continue to be very careful about what I eat (it's a habit now). If I am not, I will gain my weight back, no question about that. As to losing too much weight, you will know when enough is enough, and then you will adjust your food intake accordingly. Actually, I evolved so that I just continued doing what I was doing, and stayed the same weight.

I do not consider myself to be on a diet, but I eat many diet foods, and I have found those that I truly enjoy.

For me the peace came when I got on top of this demon, and took control over my life.

You have one up on me since I have never been thin. Now I am, and I'm healthy - and yes, I feel very sexy. You can see my age to the left. I work full time and love it. I am an active square dancer. I exercise daily. And I thank G-d every day that I have reached this point.

Just keep in mind that you have to do the work here, and the tool will assist you - it won't do it for you.

Let me know if I can help you in any way.

Best of luck to you and big HUGS!

Talking Good to hear from you

Hi :
Thank you so much you don't know how much you have helped me already.
you have done wonderful. I'm glad to hear success stories.
I have a girlfriend that loves to line dance and never can get a partner. She should live in Texas.
I know that I will make it. I feel better at least trying to lose the ten pounds for the surgery. I get all my testing the Oct 27 and hope I have lost weight by than. I'm close on BMI and they are hoping that I will be approved. You know how insurance can be. I have Tricare Prime and they say they have been very good about approval. With my blood pressure, and chos. and knee replacement and one having to be replace, i may be approved.
I will be checking in on you as i go . i hope that is ok. We are close in age and we girls understand each other.
thanks again and keep up the great work. I'm really happy for you. I know how hard you must of worked to reach you goal.
God Bless You
Pamie

This site has been unbelievably helpful to me and this post was one of the best. I really learned a lot from it and it comes to mind often as I learn what my new pouch likes/dislikes.

Thanks for everyone’s input!

WOW. All I can say is WOW. Lisa and all, this is a great thread. Insightful, and loaded with "the real deal" of information in my opinion.

Hi all. My name is Jeff (MrJ) and I was told about this web site from a co workers wife who had gb 14 months ago. She has lost 133 lbs and is doing great and is helping me to prepare for my journey.

I am having gb this Thursday at 2pm. I have been over weight for about 20 years (I am 55) on and off. I lose 40, gain back 50 in a year or two. I lose 60 and gain back 75, and on and on. Nothing you all haven't heard or experienced yourselves.

I am heavier now than i ever have been. I am 5' 6" (well I have shrunk to 5' 4" the surgeons office said haha), and I weigh about 255. I should be at about 150 to 155. I have type 2 diabetes (just recently diagnosed), hi cholesterol, acid reflux nightly, snore so bad my wife goes out to the couch many nights, and my back and legs and knees are starting to hurt alot.

For me the gb journey started about 3 years ago when I first considered having the surgery and spoke with my doctor about it. It wasn't until about 6 months ago that I again spoke to my doctor about it and he told me that I should attend a seminar to learn about all of the different surgeries, etc... Once I decided on which surgery would be best for me the process really started to move. About 6 weeks later here I am scheduled for gb this coming Thursday and I am a total wreck, but also excited about the change that will be coming.

The changes to eating, the addition of exercising, the constant drinking of water and the surgery itself have been going over and over in my head.

I really appreciate people like my co workers wife and all of you in your willingness to share and provide some "real" insight to this scarey venture.

Thanks!!

I hope this post is in the correct forum as it started out to be a thanks to Lisa for a great post that started this thread.

Default Welcome MrJ

Welcome MrJ. I'm new myself; my surgery is on November 30th. This site is great; I've learned so much about what to expect - I am ready! Check out today's posts about vitamins, especially Flinstones chewables. I'm buying new ones right away.

Good luck with your surgery.

Hi everyone! I haven't posted in awhile as I've been a busy Mommy and just had a hysterectomy last week (abdominal ugh!) But my friend MrJ up there got me back online with thinner times! I'm the "co worker's wife"! hehehe....Jeff it's been a pleasure giving you all my tips and info! Sooo very excited for you!

This is a very hard time for you right now - just days before your surgery...a very scary and unsure time for you - I know all too well, I was a mess before my surgery too - so afraid to have things change - but boy oh boy was it worth it!

You are going to feel so amazing!!!!!!
