Hi all - My surgery is set for February 27! WOOT! In my introductory thread I mentioned that I was on hold for scheduling until I lost 8 pounds or else I had to go through the hospital's surgical reivew committee. I've lost 5 and I guess that was cool with my surgeon and the hospital because they gave me the date this morning! I have a bunch of stuff to do between now and then, of course, like take patient education classes, have my physical and lab work, and finally a face-to-face meeting with the surgeon, all within less than three weeks, and it's wreaking havoc with my work schedule. I feel especially guilty about being off a lot for that stuff now, since I'll be off for three or four weeks for recovery. (I'm stoooopid like that -- I can't even take "mental health" days at work because I feel so guilty about not being there that I can't enjoy my ill-gotten day off!) Bless my boss's heart, though, he's been so good about it. He says not to worry, do what's best for my health, the work will be there when I return. And unfortunately, he's right about that! He's a big guy himself and struggles with his weight, and he's been very encouraging and supportive through the whole process.
Anyway, I just wanted to share the news -- I'll post more as I go through the process. In the meantime, I'm sending good karma to those of us still waiting for approval like Baron P. and JenBear and Tawanna and [insert your name here as appropriate
