Hello from a new member :-)
Hello all - New pre-op member posting here to introduce myself. I've been reading the board for a couple of weeks now and feel like I already know so many of you through your wonderful posts! I'm Rhonda from Richmond, VA...just been approved by Anthem BC/BS for RNY, and of course I've already run into a roadblock. My surgeon's office just told me that I need to lose 8 pounds before they can put me on the schedule because my BMI is 65.7 and the hospital (Bon Secours St. Mary's) requires that all patients with a BMI over 65 go through the surgical review committee. That sounds like a major pain in the @ss, so I'm now back on the DIE-t rollercoaster trying to drop these pounds so I can actually get scheduled. I shouldn't complain, though, given that my insurance approval was a breeze compared to some of your experiences!
Anyway, I've been lurking here for awhile and now am coming out of the shadows to say hi. No doubt that you'll hear from me from time to time as my process moves forward. If anyone here is local to Richmond, give me a shout-out!

Rhonda congrats on the approval. Usually that is the hardiest part is getting approval. You got that. 8 pounds is nothing to lose. Just be thankful you don't have to lose 10% of your body weight. A lot of Bariatric programs require an 10% of your body weight to be lost . Pile up on your protein. Losing weight pre-op will help prepare you for the losing side. Welcome aboard.

Welcome Rhonda! Make one small lifestyle change and stick to it and that 8 will come off in no time. Keep us that change and you should be able to keep it off until your surgery day!
Good luck on your journey!!

Welcome to the board, Rhonda. So glad you came out of hiding! You can do this 8 pounds, I know you can! I had to do a 2 week liquid diet pre-op and lost 10 in just one week. Make a plan and stick to it! I bet you will be surprised how fast it comes off. Keep us informed about how things are going! We are here for you!
