Passed my Psych eval today
Hey Guys Good News I am well on my way to the losing side. I passed my Physc evaluation today. I was so worried I wouldn't pass. At my next appointment I get my date. One question DID any of you have to do the sleep apnea clinic? and is it hard?

Congrats on having another step in the process taken care of. Yay for getting a date! I did not have to do the sleep apnea thing...of course had my hubby told them how bad I snored, I probably would have. It's in your best interest to take care of everything they want you to...just keep stepping like you've been, you're well on your way!

I did one once - nothing hard about it - just annoying - not easy trying to sleep with about a million electro leads attached to you

Sleep apnea
I had a sleep study. They came to my home and did it.
It is definitely odd, but doable. You have electrodes glued to your head, a CO2 monitor under your nose and chin, an EKG (electrodes glued to your chest) a band around your waist, electrodes on your legs and arms, and a pulse oximeter probe on your finger! It's a lot of stuff to wear and try to sleep!
Good tricks to being able to sleep for me were getiing in some excersize that day, a quiet evening, and going to bed and hour or 2 later than normal. Plan on a light day the next day too, 'cause you'll need a nap!
I am REALLY glad I had done though. I did not end up having sleep apnea (which my husband thought I had) but had another disorder that caused me to wake up 151 times in 5 hours of "sleep!" No wonder I was always tired, I never progressed through all 5 stages of sleep. I was prescribed a simple pill by my MD, and within a week my memory was better, I felt refereshed, and I wasn't tired all the time. I came away as a walking advertisement for getting sleep studies..."Feel tired, ask for a sleep study!"
Moral of the story - all the electrodes and straps associated with a one night sleep study have greatly changed my life for the better. Look at it as an advenure.

I had one 2 yrs ago, and glad I did! (bit long- sorry!)
I thought I was fat and lazy; turns out I was suffering from sleep deprivation! (Still fat thougth.) I had to go to a clinic. There were maybe 3 other people there- 3 old retired farts. Nice men, but big babies! And here I am, a vivacious, Reubenesque morsel in her mid-40's! The sleep tech put them down first, because they were giving her such problems. She then took all my stats, put me on a bed not much more comfortable than an examination table. Yup, ectrodes glued to your body all over the place (ever wonder how they decide the spots?) and a clamp on my finger for oxygen monitoring. I had been told to remove all polish and acrylics, but I just had a French manicure- I love my acrylic overlay!) I was sooo tired I went to sleep faily quickly- I was tired all the time! The sleep tech got me up first, because I told her I had to go into work in the morning and I wanted time to go home and shower, etc. Went back a week later. The pulmonologist told me it was one of the worst cases he had seen. (My fiance's complaint was that I drowned out the tv.) Now, I got approx. 6 hrs sleep. I stopped breathing 643 times! Don't know what they considered "stopped". Anyhow, I have been sleeping with a CPAP machine ever since. I affectionately call it my "Nose Hose". Pain in the butt? You bet, but I love it, can't sleep without it. What a difference! I know this is a bit long, but I'm hoping this is helpful...

That was the most stressful part of my journey was my psych eval. I had a bad experience with one prior to finding a good one. Congrats on making it one step closer to the losing side.

I had it...
Not hard or painful just a little uncomfortable with all the wires attached all night. I actually felt like I was up more then asleep. you might need a nap afterwards when you get home.

I had the sleep apnea test at home - Really helped - Still having a hard time using the CPAP machine that I need to sleep with, but it really opens your eyes. I stop breathing 25 times during the night - No wonder I was tired in the a.m. - Good Luck
