Unhappy What does an ulcer feel like?

I have had a stomachache for almost 2 weeks (lot of stress at work), and, bizarre as it sounds, I get a worse stomachache and awful nausea sometimes when sleeping on my left side. I like my "big girl drinks" and I haven't been able to enjoy those. I am terrified this will postpone surgery, which should be coming up soon, possibly Feb. I know the drinking has to go, believe me, but toast can make me nauseous sometimes! Any help/info/words of wisdom gladly accepted!

I had a severe burning under my left ribcage with my ulcer in the area where my pouch was. It would burn severely if I was hungry and it would burn severely after I ate for about an hour or so and then would get better, but I did throw up quite a bit too. Nothing much ever stayed down. I could lay on my back and push under my left ribcage and it left as if my pouch was so swollen and inflammed that it would feel like a ball in there and I could feel it pressing against my back and I would feel pain in my back also. Get some help for it NOW if you feel you have one. It takes those things FOREVER to heal and it's a horrible thing to have. You also don't want it eroding you stomach lining away in a certain spot and you developing a leak from it. Ulcers are nasty things.

Gee, I hope it's all better, Trina- it sounds nasty! I have been taking a generic OTC version of Zantac, and that seems to help. I have my next appointment with my surgeon on the 19th, so if it is still bad, I guess I'll have to tell him. If I don't want suprises in surgery, I'm sure he doesn't!

I ahd an Ulcers when I was pregnat with my second child. It made me sick and I would vomit quite often but after the stress went away and the doctor game me something it went away. Before my tubal ligation I had to drink some chalky stuff to make so I woudn't get sick during surgery. It was nasty but it worked.
