I am worried about if I will be able to care for myself, or if I should hire a nurse. I'm a single mom, but my ex is going to keep the kids over Chistmas vacation, so it will just be me. I don't like to inconvience anyone, that's why I'm considering the nurse, especially if there are medical things that need to happen, drains, ect? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Howdy neighbor....welcome to the board!

I did not need too much help when I got home......and they took my drains out at the hospital. The most help I needed were things like the trash, carrying dog food, grocery shopping, laundry, vacuuming......I could have used a maid much more than a nurse.

But that was just my personal experience. I was able to shower myself, get my drinks, etc. with no problem. I too am very independent....so I can relate to not wanting to impose on people.
