Default 1 Week until surgery

Hi! I'm new to this site, but it looks like a wonderful place to meet people and learn about this surgery. I have a friend that had this surgery almost 2 years ago, and she has done great, and she's given me the courage to do this. I was going to have the surgery last year, but chickened out 3 days before surgery, mostly because of my co-worker's and my family scaring the heck out of me. Needless to say, my co-workers have never been above 150 lbs. either. My sister is an RN and gave me all the horror stories of surgeries gone wrong. I decided to research longer and give it one last shot on my own. Well, after one year, I've lost a whopping 2 lbs. on my own :::rolling eyes:::. So, I called my surgeon again, had the appointment today to discuss going through with it. Anyway, I'm scheduled for next Wednesday. I'm excited, nervous, scared, etc. I'll let you all know how it all goes. Thanks for letting me intrude and read your stories, tips, suggestions, etc.

Default Hello

Congratulations on making the tough choice. I'm a nurse and have heard and seen some of the horror stories. I also work in hospice and see daily the horror of obesity related diseases take it's toll on families and patients. For me, it's a no brainer. I rather die trying than to wait for obesity to kill me. Remember, this is about you and your life and what you are willing to live with. Here, you have a multitude of support. Don't let your family and co-workers detract you from what you believe is in your best interest.
