My surgery date has been changed..../ The Drain - ThinnerTimes

It was moved up from Wednesday, 10/4 to Tuesday, 10/3. Wowzers!!!!! I'm thrilled!!!! I'll be Dr. Pott's first surgery of the day. He initially wanted me to lose 20-30lbs before the surgery. I tried really hard...I lost 13lbs...I went from 301lbs, and today I'm 288lbs. He must have felt that I was going in the right direction, so he said the magic words....."So, ya ready for surgery?" Yeeeeeehaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!! I was so afraid that because I didn't quite make the whole 20lbs he would postpone the surgery. He said that because my weight was trunkal, I would definitely need a drain, and he said that its going to hurt when he takes it out because basically the tissue grows around the drain during the 10 days it'll be in, but because the port is wider than the tubing its basically going to be ripping the tissue open as it comes out....

I'm a little spooked out about the drain. Can anyone provide some insight on the drain issue?

I had a drain post -op. What a pain in the ass, but it has its purpose. Mine actually caused an infection at the area where it exited the skin and I had to have it removed early. It was not that painful when removed - it goes quick - more like a wierd feeling than pain. You will get through it OK, dont worry.
