My surgeon's office is a multi-disciplanary office so they have their own behaviorists, nutritionists and exercise therapist. My evaluation with the behaviorist lasted for about an hour. First he had me take this test which took maybe 20 min or so and then he discussed it with me. He also spent time talking to me about my decision to have wls and what kinds of things have happened in my life that I felt had led to my obesity in the first place. He was really laid back about the whole thing and just wanted to make sure that my head was in the right place when it came to the surgery. My insurance actually required that I see the behaviorist twice. The second meeting was basicaly going over what changes I could expect after surgery, emotionally and physically. I personally found the whole thing pretty helpful but I suspect because the behaviorist that I saw only deals with wls patients he was more attuned to how I was feeling.
Don't sweat it too much. I'm sure if you need one it will be fine. I know I couldn't get approval by my insurance company until I had a psych evaluation and I couldn't get scheduled for surgery until I was approved.
