Default My approval journey!!!!

thank you all for responding and sharing in my excitement and anticipation. I feel like this will be the start of the rest of my life. I cannot tell you how helpful ALL of you have been. Just reading your posts has really encouraged me and helped to curb some of the anxiety stemmed from the anticipation of waiting.

I feel like I sort of left you all hanging. I was so excited about the news, I made my post quick and short. Let me tell you a little about my journey.

June 15 my good friend from nursing school had come to see. She'd had WLS about 5 years ago and looks absolutely fabulous!. We talked all day about it and I decided to see my PCP. June 30 I saw my PCP and my journey began. Things went so quickly for me because I have Aetna PPO. I got all my labs done within a week. My consult with Dr C was July 14. All labs in. I saw Kelly again on July 28th. My sleep study was done on July 30. My results for my sleep study submitted to Dr C Aug 14. My chart went into dictation Aug 15. My clinical info was submitted to Aetna Aug 28. The nurse overseeing my case at Aetna tried to deny me due to the fact that my weight loss attempt over the last 2 years was not enough. By the grace of God, the Medical Director said otherwise and I got an apporoval Aug 29th. God does hear prayers AND he answers! Whewwwww! That was quick. My date is Sept 25th.

I can't tell you how jazzed I am. I am just nervous now for the feelings of lack of control while in surgery. I can only pray the God guides the hands of Dr Callery and his team. I am so tearful when I think that this is really finally about to happen. After many failed attempts at dieting through the years and always being told "your face is so beautiful", I will now have the rest of me to add to my face. I haven't told my parents yet for fear of them trying to talk me out of this. There are many people who try to talk you out of WLS. They use the worse case scenarios to generalize all cases. I will tell my parents the Friday before my surgery. Do you all think this is wrong? Please tell me your thoughts.

Default Do what's right for you

Sorry no one has answered you yet... Welcome to the forum, and welcome to the September Staplers. Only a few short weeks, and you'll be on the losing side! How exciting for you.

All your apprehension and worries are absolutely normal. We all went through it. And as far as when and how you tell your family and/or friends, you must make that decision yourself, taking your own needs and your knowledge of their possible reaction into consideration.

Me, I told everybody that would stand still long enough, and got an incredible amount of support from my family. I know that others have had different experiences both before and after surgery.

Congratulations on your approval and your comparatively easy journey through that process. Keep reading the board, you'll find an amazing amount of information and support here.

Hello and congrats on your special surgery date. Knowing that you are in the hands of Dr. Callery and his staff is a true blessing. Can you tell I am a bit biased? Soon you will be a loser. Welcome to this wonderful group.
