Pete,
The jitters is totally normal. Concentrate on the new arrival in your life and enjoy being without kids right now!!! By one month post op you will be feeling so much better you will have tons of energy for that baby. Also the timing is right as you won't be able to lift anything more than a newborn for 6 weeks post op anyway. I am a much more fun parent and feel like I cheated my boys out of an active parent the first 3 years. You will have such motivation for recovery!!!
