Default colonoscopy

Hi, I hope I am using this site correctly. A general questions to all you post-ops. My PCP has recommended that I get a screening colonoscopy..no problems but I am over 50. I did not want to get done before surgery and am now almost 6 months out, so it is probably time for me to start thinking about it. Any problems, any special instructions? I read a post from another post-op and she mentioned she had very bad problems following the procedure. Any thoughts?

Default Colonoscopy

This used to be very unplesant, but with new meds to sedate and a more flexilbe scope it has become a much more patient friendly procedure. You may need a bowel prep and someone to drive you home. It really is a good test to have done at age 50 or so, think of the brightside its a great tool to rule out colon cancer. Best of luck to you . Lorrain

Annieb,

My Father is having his bi-yearly colonoscopy on the 20th of this month, and he told me that they now have pills you can take instead of that dreaded bowel prep gallon of liquid that you would normally have to drink. I think this is a great advance not only to WLS patients, but anyone having to already endure this horrific proceedure. However, I think it is very important and I pray everything comes out just great.
