Welcome. Your story of lap band to bypass would be of interest to many as that is a common theme of some posts. Did you have the banding prior to bypass to get off weight, did it not work for you or did you have complications?? Thanks for sharing and we are here.

Welcome to the board. This is an awesome place for support. I too would be intersted in hearing your experience with the banding. I considered that, but chose the RNY instead. But I know others are deciding, and one member is only able to get the banding approved. I'm sure he'd like to hear your experience so he can prepare for his surgery and what he might expect. I wish you a speedy recovery and much success with your upcoming surgery.

Thanks everyone for the welcome!! I had lap band 1 year ago and have had lots of pain with the port and lots of issues with not being able to keep things down - I did loose about 75 pounds but have not been able to loose any more and still have another 75 to go - so with all of the recent articles I have read about the lap band causing errosion of the stomach and now they have discovered it needs to be replaced every 2-3 years- I decided to get it out once and for all and finsh up my journey with something more permanent. I am nervous about thsi but feel that it is probably my best choice. I have been overweight my entire life and really have a huge desire to be thin!!

Wow, very interesting. I read so much conflicting information about the banding when I looked into it. It's good to hear of someone with an actual real life experience. It sounds like it has been a good tool for you to at least some extent.......75 lbs is an awesome loss! Congrats to you on that. I hope your surgery and recovery are a better experience than you've had so far. I'm with you, I see many people settle for "normal heavy" after surgery. I want to be healthy/normal/thin. I risked my life and daggone it, I want to get there. Good luck and keep us updated.
