Default Brain feels hazy

I am 4 day post of and feel great except my brain seems to be working kind of slow and I really have to concentrate when people talk to me sometimes. I did go back to work today (Algebra teacher) so it is not to physical and really not that hard concentration wise since this is the beginning of the year.

Did anyone else experience this?

You went back to work 4 days after MAJOR surgery and don't understand why you're feeling off?

You had them cut your body open and altered your insides. Now you're nutrition and fluids are all out of whack.. you're going to have to allow yourself to heal. Your body is in shock. Give it time.

I'm three weeks post-op and I just went back to work. I still get exhausted after about 3 hours....and my head still gets hazy. 4 days post-op and you're working????? Do you think that's such a great idea?

There could be several reasons for this. Are you still on pain meds? Are you still in pain? Are you getting all your fluids in? Are you getting all your protein in? Are you taking your vitamins? Really, it's normal to feel that way for a few days or a week or more after major surgery.

Hey, Me too Im day 5 post op and was back to work on day 3 and a half. The first day back i was very slow and only had 3 classes to teach. I was exhausted and winded after going up two flights of stairs. I felt ok but today is Day 5 and I am feeling miserable. I just dont know what it is, but im grouchy and cant focus. The book says I wont think about food until week 4 and thats why they do a fill then. I was thinking about food in the hospital! Day 4 I noticed my hunger stopping in to say hi! Except now i can eat an instant soup and feel full again.
Im actually glad to be back to work bc its a good distraction from thinking about what have i just done to myself?! but i remember the frustration pre-lb and wanting change then too. I guess Ive just switched problems to deal with.
My wounds are healing nicely and now my mind is not so occupied with survival and its free to tell me a sad story.
Luckily life goes on and tomorrow's another day.

That book lied to you. lol
Hunger returns normally around day 2 or 3 after having the lapband.. they don't cut your stomach so why shoudnt it return? Still the longer you can hold off an eating real food, the more weight you'll be able to lose so tough it out as long as you can til you can get that fill and have some restriction.

us post opers know its major surgery, but sometimes we can be fooled into thinking its not. especially when they're booting you out of the hospital within days of having this major surgery
