Sue- I just wanna thank you for being a black sheep bander on here. GB isn't an option for me due to a couple medical problems I already have so the band was really the only option so far I have been presented with (I have to still meet a surgeon.)

I also want to have more children (at least 1) and I need something like the band which can be deflated if necessary if the time comes. My endocrinologist actually forbid me from getting pregnant @ my current weight & bmi. He said it would be irresponsible (straight shooter that Dr W)

Anyway- I appreciate your comments & info on here! Keep posting & CONGRATS on your hard earned success!!

I understand bypass isn't a good option for you, but just wanted to mention that it is quite possible to get pregnant and have a healthy baby after a bypass.

Sue, congratulations! I guess I haven't dug around in here enough to realize that lapband is frowned upon. For me it was the only choice therefore I have to make it work for me. My sister was just as successful as you are and I do know some people who weren't. But all I know of their experiences is that they kind of didn't use the tool the way they could have. From what I understand you have to work a bit harder with the lapband in order for it to work. For example, one lady I know would purposefully eat to the point of pain and nausea and she would go throwup and come back and finish her meal. She would do this so frequently throughout each day that she only lost a minimal amount of weight because she was still taking in so many calories each day. So far only three days in without even a fill in my band and when I drink too much water or eat too much jello etc. I can tell from the pressure and it hurts enough to make me stop. So, if you keep going to the point of needing to throwup you must be in pain the whole time? Right? Maybe i'm a whimp, but no thank you, the pain is bad enough, I for sure would not want to be sick to my stomach on top of that! I will know better later on I suppose. But thats just my take on things at this point. Anyway, you rock with your success and I am glad to know you are here so I know who to talk with about my specific lapband questions. You are an inspiration to me-thanks!

Im not sure if its frowned upon...but it def. is put down alot here and it gets kinda discouraging - at least it does for me- I kinda feel alone here sometimes

But in a more positive note- I think I have been so successful because I follow the same "rules and diet" as an RNY patient..so I am very strict on myself- also I thought I could eat anything- well for me thats not it- I think I get sick just like others here if its too sweet- Its just probably isnt as extreme, and I know I cant eat bread or pasta

And yeah I have heard of people eating too much with lapband and getting sick and vomitting- and all I gotta say about that is- your not only hurting your insides but your teeth too! and Imma huge teeth person!

good luck to you!
