I always had a diet pepsi with every meal except breakfast that would be coffee. I rarely drink coffee now and don't drink soda .. so I guess I'm used to it. I don't really get those cravings unless something gets stuck or feels stuck. Then I might take a tiny sip in hopes to get it to pass ... if that doesn't work usually the whole kit -n-kaboodle comes up lol

Corrine I haver the same problem as you. Except it's not necessarily meats. If it is a dry chunk of meat yes but there are many foods that I cannot get down without liquid.

Because my band is only a little bit filled, I have to eat things that will stay in more than a few seconds.. things like fruit, veggies and wholegrain bread. Those things tend to hurt my pouch tho, so I end up having a few sips of water afterall. I've been living like that for almost 5 years, so I'm afraid I have a serious drink with food habit. Of course I've got to break it with the surgery right around the corner, but it'll be easier when I have a good pouch

By the way, I've heard that RNY patients that waterload, do NOT get the urge to drink with their food, because their intestines are already packed solid with lots of refreshing water. If you waterload before your meals, you shouldn't feel thirsty, unless there's too much salt in your food.
