i drink coffee now........i am 8 weeks........i started at 4 weeks out.........they tell you not to drink it because it dehydrates you..........but it's the only way i can get my protein in because i mix choc. powder, skim milk, to make a latte.............my doctor said to just limit it to 1 or 2 cups day.........

I was told at my 2 week check up that I could start drinking it again if I wanted. Just to limit the amount I was drinking.

Default Be prepared for coffee

I was the coffee king before surgery, but I warn you to be prepared.. I can not stand it now.. well let me rephrase.. the pouch sampled it.. and everytime I have tried it.. it tastes horrible and the pouch says to me, "Whatcha talking about Willis!". So, Tea is my new friend. Thank God for Tea. I am sipping it now. Tea loves me, and I love tea.

All the best,

BigBearJeff

I can handle one cup in the morning and thats it. I made the decision that one cup a day is enough and then concentrate on water.

with you having a lap band its different than the GB patients so i cant really answer that one. other than what Tricia said its because it acts as a diaretic and actually dehydrates you. If you drink 1 cup you need to drink 2 cups of water to replace what it "took"

I was told no caffiene at all for 6 mths due to the fact you can retain water. I am not a coffee drinking but drank decaf tetley tea from day 5 and now drink a concoction I make which is a kind of french vanilla/hot choc/starbuck SF syrup/vanilla soy mix!

Default All things in moderation

Some people have problems with it, others don't. Pretty much the standard across the board for most things with bandsters. I love love love my mochas. I simply limit myself to one every other day or so. I haven't had any problems with it. I don't know if my doctor would like to hear that I do that but what can I say. It's better that I limit myself than to deny myself and go buck wild over the edge. I didn't really feel like eating much of anything for a couple of weeks after surgery. I think I probably had my first coffee within the first three weeks and had no problems.

I was told at 4 weeks that I could have a cup of regular coffee. The NUT even suggested it to help with my early constipation issues.

I have just the one a day - 6-8oz and that's it. But like Deborah, I have extra water to balance it out.

what about mixing coffee with sugar free hot cocoa mix? I love lattes with non fat milk, extra espresso and no whip...

seems like a plausible alternative? wouldnt you think?
