Default Passing out

Well today mid morning, I was talking to my husband and I got very dizzy, just reached out to him and blanked out. Didn't stayed that way long I came back very fast. After a couple minutes I sit up slowly, just to blank out again and passed out for another minute. He got me some water and got on my case about not eating, ok so this is my fault shame on me. But today I have been having shortness of breath and palpilations. I have an appointment on Monday with my surgeon, but if this continues like this by tomorrow morning I will call my regular doctor and ask to be seen right away. I have been drinking all my water, making an effort to get it all in. And I have been getting in all my protein as well, my vitamins, my pepcid, B-12 and what not.
I did had to go in for lab work yesterday and they took 3 tubes of blood. I suppose if there is some iron deficiency it will show up in there and Monday I will hear about it.

Since my period a couple weeks ago (the first one after my surgery) ~~ sorry guys ~~ I have been feeling very tired as well. I have been loosing wait still regularly but I have NO energy. I really wonder if I need Iron.

Anyone else had issues with fainting/passing out? and low energy levels within a few weeks following surgery?

You can have these symptoms for a variety of reasons and deficiencies. If you are drinking anything with caffine, stop...also you may wish to increase your salt intake, and drink more H20. If you continue to pass out, you might want to ask about a tilt table test. Oddly, passing out is something that seems to be common for post-op. Good Luck

Chiquita,

Just a thought...are you on blood pressure medication? If so, it may need to be adjusted. My doctor told me to watch my blood pressure as my weight loss continues. Last time I had to adjust my blood pressure I was experiencing EXTREME fatigue and dizziness.

Just an idea... Good luck and keep us posted!

Cathy

It sounds like low blood sugar to me

I have had three episodes like this and each time I needed to eat. I had a sugared drink and a peanut bar and 10 mins later I was absolutely fine. For those that dump on sugar - high carbs would be good.

Shreeks had a similar episode not so long ago as well and felt better after eating/drinking

Thanks all. Well no I am not drinking caffeine. I haven't had a cup of coffee since before the surgery so I am ok on that, and no tea and no pop offcourse. I did put some lemon on my water today to spike it up a bit, a change of pase kind of thing.

I have been off blood preasure medicing since before the surgery as it came down a couple months prior to that. I do feel perhaps I might have gone lower then usual. My normal has always been lower but still on the safe side, perhaps it went way down.

I hope the blood test will tell a bit into what it's up. I was not aware of the passing out deal on post-op. I will be more carefull to start drinking plenty of water as soon as i get up, and to eat a yogurt first thing too, I did not like the not been in control part of the experience.

I did called my regular doctors office and she was gone, but spoke to the triosh (spelling?) nurse on staff and she was a bit upset I did not called earlier, she recommended I rest until my husband got home and then I get him to take me to the ER. Well I went to rest and the palpitations about stop. I know they don't have to do with what I eat, because I did not eat anything that disagreed with me or that i threw up, infact I haven't yet puked once so I am glad for that,, felt like I might once, but I think it was due to putting a bit much into my pouch, seems like 2 oz is what I can handle so I stick to that for now.

Anyways back to rest.

Default My Two cents

This post caught my attention as I have seen several other people talk about the fact that they have passed out or felt like they have come close to it. Honestly, I have gone through several events where I know I was close to passing out. It is a strange feeling, and I am really not sure what triggers it. Several of you have reported having it happen in the shower, but I can honestly say it has not happened there for me. I do know that it does happen when I get up from a sitting position or a crouching position. Strangely, it does not happen all the time. Additionally, it does not happen often, but when it does you know it. I can assure you it is NOT the same feeling as the typical “head rush” you get from standing up too quickly.
Well there are my 2 cents.

The melting bear,

Jeff
