I am by no means an expert in the Band, but I would think they are similar in that you still need to watch WHAT you are eating and your portion sizes, in addition to adding in exercise on a daily basis. One of the biggest Fat keepers are CARBS. I bet if you increase your protein intakes, decrease your Carbs and non-essential foods...you will find yourself on the losing end again. Also, it's a good idea to measure and portion your food. With the band, you may have the restriction, but not the malabsorption, therefore you can still eat anything and it will still cause weight gain! The good news is you can't eat MUCH of it. The idea of the band though is to give you the option to eat less, and learn newer-healthier eating habits, while incorporating a new lifetime exercise program. You have to work really hard to avoid those trigger foods, and Carbs with the Band. I promise though, you cut them out of your diet...(pop too) then you will see some movement in the right direction. Restrictions are fine and dandy, but if your not changing your eating in any way other than portion size, than what good are you really doing? JMHO

i will take on board what you have said and make some changes but
i would say i have changed my eating habits quite a lot and protein is my big love and always as been , its the first thing i eat them my veg and complex carbs last, but more often than not i don't eat my Tate's i did have a bout of time where i had a lot of bread but i can say that as cut down a lot . i don't drink pop since having the band . thinking about it i tend not to eat until mid afternoon . now Ive looked into what I'm doing to myself i need to eat at the right times i need to have my 3meals spread out and not in the space off 6hrs from getting in from work and going to bed

thanks for your help

When I was banded I only had difficultly with really stringy meats, like sirloin and stuff..everything else was smooth sailing. Well sometimes if I didnt chew will it would get stuck but not that often. Oh and snap peas and that little string on the outside always got stuck.

Default hi there

hi im new on this site but i understand where your coming from with the weight loss, i have had 2 fills now and only had my band done oct 07 before my fist fill i had lost 12kg then when i went back for my next fill two weeks ago i lost 3kg to me this is not enough and now my husband is telling me i look like i am putting on weight which is getting me down.
anyway i went on another chat room and found that some people dont get any resistance and very litlle (sometimes none) weight loss until there 3rd or 4th fill, i say stick with it and if your not a big excersiser get up and down those stairs a few more times a day it helps........
whils t i am here could you or anyone that reads this answer a querie i have, i have been getting cramps in my stomache area over the last 4 days and im starting to get concerned that it could be band related, what do you think
