How will I feel immediately after surgery?
I'm so scared of what I am going to feel like after surgery. It is going to be the worst pain I've ever felt? Will my stomach feel bloated and like its gonna explode? They are going to make me walk that night, how bad will that hurt? Can anyone please rate these on a scale of 1-10?

Right after it will hurt...I wont lie. I think it was about a 6-7. But thankfully you have pain meds...And they are GOOODDD! LOL
I never needed anything after I came home. I took some tylenol and that was it.
By monday (I had my surgery on a thursday) I was out and walking the mall. Tuesday I was at costco. (It was the tuesday before thanksgiving!) And friday a week and one day after sugery I was at the mall at 4am, shopping in the after thanksgiving sales!!!
So all in all to me it wasnt that bad. Everyone has a different pain tolerance tho.

I didn't have Lap Band either, but it is the less evasive surgery...right??? So I am assuming it would be less painful. The pain was not "I'm gonna die" pain...nothing the drugs didn't help with. I basically just felt crappy for 2 weeks and then BAM...felt great.

I also did not have the band surgery.. but the band surgery there is LESS pain than the rny.. and.. I was only on pain meds SOLID for basically a day and a half, and after that, was just on them to sleep.. it really wasnt as bad as I thought.. Go in thinking its going to be the worst pain of your life.. then you will be pleasently surprised... (thats what happened with me anyway)

You'll feel like you did a ton of sit ups. Yeah, you'll be sore, but your seat on the losers bench will help a little ...oh and take the drugs, it's better if you stay on top of the pain and don't let it get out of control. I was back at work in 2 weeks...was tender for a few days. Nobody's going to make you walk more than you are capable of...they just want you to move to get the gas going, and so you won't get blood clots.

Just know the more you walk the easier it gets. Walking helps with the soreness and pain. I couldn't walk the first day I was in too much pain, but forced myself to walk when I got my pain meds and they had kicked in. I can assure you it got easier each walk. Janie

As you can see by the responses, everyone is different. Yes, there will be some pain, depends on how well you can manage it. Some people have a high tollerance, while others are very low.
Me, I'm weird. I had no real pain, and was up and walking by myself a few hours later after the surgery. I had mine on Tuesday, and home Friday afternoon. I just wanted to be left alone and get a good night's sleep!
The next day I was up, showered and ready to go shopping with my wife.
No, I'm not weird, I'm crazy!

I didn't have lap band, I had open RNY, but really I felt great right out of surgery. Just slept. I never really had a lot of pain with that surgery and its way more invasive than the lap band.
Everyone deals with pain differently, so its really hard to explain a level of pain to someone else.

pain after surgery
I am on day two of a lap band, its been okay, some pain when bending or moving but seems worse when in hospital, now I am home and its starting to feel good, I am going to sleep in my own bed tonight so that will help.
I found the pain killers useful and was able to walk one hour after recovery, indeed I needed the loo so bad I hopped off the bed and almost ran there until I remembered the IV bag and had to slow down for my helper to catch up.
Today just two days after surgery I went shopping and also for a look around a armour factory on my way home so a busy day and not to bad
If this is as worse as it gets then its a pleasure to be a loser
