Question Illness-related vomit question

(Sorry for being so graphic...)

So, if after the surgery, we have essentially 2 stomachs: What happens if we get the flu or food poisoning and our larger stomach needs to empty? Does the vomit need to fit through that tiny whole of the band? Does it hurt? Does it take longer to get stuff up or make you sick longer?

Well I'm no expert, but the old stomach doesn't work anymore. The new pouch is where everything is processed. Any sickness goes down that way vs the old stomach. Janie

Good question, most of us here had RNY, but you had lap band, so I would think that the upper part would function just like having a whole stomach. With the lap band, you still use your whole stomach, unlike us. I guess the only way to know is to have a flu and see what happens?

you are having the band... so you wont have 2 stomachs.. you will only have one.. with a band around it making it so you get full quicker... I'm betting... that you will still be able to get sick.. maybe it will just come out in a thinner stream? COnsidering you are constricting its way out.. sounds like a perfect question for your surgeon!
